Investigation of Walmart Pork Suppliers
If you still eat meat, you approve of this treatment. Wouldn’t you rather save animals? Please go vegan! (And please remember that it is not enough to ban gestation crates: pigs are still exploited and made to suffer unimaginable horrors no matter the form of farm or husbandry practice).

Try to imagine the horrific lives of these intelligent sentient animals. Would you ever force your pets to remain immobile their entire lives? Of course not!
Just imagine being forced to endure what pigs and hogs are forced to endure in our appalling factory farms … devoid of any mental or physical stimulation, no sunshine, no fresh air, no exercise, no social interactions, unable to practice any natural behaviours or experience any joy, unable to even MOVE. Where everyone is treated like “widgets” all lined up, row upon row of metal crates barely bigger than you, so you can’t even turn around, while you are forced to lay in your own feces & urine. These intelligent, sentient animals are in fact driven insane with the absolute endless & monotonous existence, every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year, until they are very stressfully herded into open metal trucks for transport to the slaughterhouse, sometimes taking days without food or water, and under every weather extreme.
Meanwhile, mature sows are continually impregnated with a “rape rack” and kept in crates barely bigger than they are, for 4 months at a time, until they give birth and where piglets are not even allowed to nurse properly and for only three weeks, instead of the normal three months, before being separated, castrated, tails & ears docked, sharp teeth removed and ALL WITHOUT ANESTHETIC, all in the name of greedy profits!! Treated like inanimate objects, these are living, thinking innocent creatures who are illegally & continuously being abused and exploited in horrific ways, right under our noses, but under the general public radar. This CANNOT continue. Not only is this unhealthy for the pigs, their meat is also unhealthy for human consumption. One needs only check out the alarming number of reported cases of listeria, e-coli, salmonella and countless other bacterial outbreaks and recalls. What about all the Unreported ones?
Gestation crates were abolished in Europe in 1999 for being recognized as INHUMANE. Yet in North America, 14 years later, it continues to be inflicted upon pigs, enabled by our gov’t officials who remain ruthlessly and wilfully blind to the obscene cruelty taking place in direct violation of the Canadian criminal code and Animal Protection Act. In some jurisdictions there have been “promises” to end this atrocity by 2022. That’s another 8 yrs of cruelty, and totally unacceptable!!
Our farm animals (including chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, cows, pigs, sheep, goats & even horses) are deliberately being kept behind closed doors to keep the public ignorant of such heinous atrocities in our massive pig farms today. It is the equivalent of an Animal Holocaust. The nightmare conditions inside all these farms are simply torture chambers and death camps much like Auschwitz, where people were starved & kept in cramped, filthy conditions without natural, basic needs being respected or met, while everyone was slaughtered. Why is this any different? In the end these captives are all gassed and/or bashed, slashed and slowly, painfully bled to death!!
What can we do? Each & every one of us can protest, petition & boycott WalMart. Stop patronizing them or ANY stores that sell pork or other factory farmed products! Refuse to eat or buy ANY meat to stop supporting this entire industry, even for just a month or two. You might even see an improvement in your health.
Write emails directly to pork suppliers or call, or tell them WHY you won’t buy their products, the next time you are shopping for groceries. Feel free to cite any of the above comments. If factory farms are not acceptable to you, nothing will change unless & until it affects retailers, wholesalers and suppliers bottom line. Can the standards possibly be any lower? Since our gov’ts have failed to inspect & enforce the already lax laws, it is up to us, as animal lovers, voters, consumers.
Collectively, we CAN force that change to happen by taking any of the above actions, on behalf of the animals. In fact, they are depending on us to be their voice. Let’s speak up with a loud voice that they cannot ignore, anymore.
