URGENT: Implore Organizers to Call Off Puppy Auction

BACKGROUND | SOURCE PETA
This Sunday, June 3, the San Antonio Guild of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles plans to auction off a puppy to the highest bidder at its “Cruise Away with CHLA” fundraising event. PETA has contacted the Guild’s president explaining why live animals should never be auctioned or raffled, but it appears our concerns are being ignored. Now your voices are needed!
Please contact the San Antonio Guild of Children’s Hospital and implore organizers to halt this portion of the auction. Remind them that winners are rarely prepared for the enormous commitment involved in properly caring for a companion animal. Tragic consequences are all too common: Animals are bounced around from home to home, dumped at animal shelters, or locked away in lonely rooms when the novelty wears off.

SAMPLE LETTER
Dear President Salzar, Event Chair Borzi, and Auction Chair Abajian:
This Sunday, June 3, the San Antonio Guild of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles plans to auction off a puppy to the highest bidder at its “Cruise Away with CHLA” fundraising event. I am writing to respectfully request you cease plans to auction a puppy.
Winners are rarely prepared for the enormous commitment involved in properly caring for a companion animal. Tragic consequences are all too common: animals are bounced around from home to home, dumped at animal shelters, or locked away in lonely rooms when the novelty wears off.
Please act with compassion and respect and halt the puppy auction.
Thank you for taking the time to read this urgent request.
a puppy breathes,
a puppy lives,
a puppy has feelings
and love to give,
a puppy is not
an auctionable
“thing”
who, if unwanted,
could end up
in terrible suffering.
