Take Action for monkeys scheduled to be transported by air to Canada

The BUAV has learned that Hainan Airlines, an airline based in China, is due to fly a shipment of monkeys from China to Toronto in the next few days. We understand that the final destination of these monkeys is a laboratory in Canada. We have written to the airline urging it to join the growing number of airlines to have adopted a permanent embargo on all primate shipments.

Please support our call by sending polite emails to Hainan Airlines urging the airline to adopt a policy not transport primates destined for research purposes.

Dear Hainan Airlines Representative,

I’m writing to you today to express my disappointment and displeasure at the fact that your company is planning to transport monkeys from China to Canadian laboratories in the next few days, despite overwhelming public and scientific opinion that animal experimentation is both unacceptable and unnecessary.

Animals in laboratories endure extreme suffering in cruel and scientifically-pointless experiments, including being forced to inhale noxious gasses, and being force-fed chemicals, and injected with poisons.  They are then left to suffer and die with minimal care or consideration for their needs.

I ask that you use your influence within Hainan Airlines to bring your company in line with the majority of air cargo transporters who refuse to transport animals destined for the vivisection industry.

I know your time is limited and I thank you for your attention and consideration.
