Victory for the Rockville deer!

December 13, 2011
by

Carol McCormick:

Last nite (Monday, December 12th) the Mayor and City Council of Rockville, MD, voted against the use of lethal measures for the Rockville Deer. Our fight is not over, but this victory is more than significant.

This is excellent news. Thank you all for your participation!

all fights have rounds
this round we have won
we keep moving forward

we never get complacent
or rest on our laurels too

Thank you one and all. In the end, the mayor and council were forced to consider the number of signatures from around the world on our petition, so each of you did make a huge difference.

There is no way I could possibly thank you enough! Yes, we submitted legal testimony, and testimony from scientific experts. But what I am most happy about is that they were forced to hear about the sentience of other beings. They heard about EARTHLINGS. Although the mayor and council were told that they have their duty to the 2 legged animals, ie humans by the would be murderers; never were they allowed to forget that violence begets violence; and that we indeed had standing for the voiceless–others with their own desire to live, to love family members, to have friends.

None of this victory would be possible without the friendship and efforts of the Cayuga Deer who are in a bad place. Please please support them now more than ever.

This would be a great time for Anthony Marr or/and Jay Kilpatrick to contact this mayor to implement the IC sterilization, show the rest of the hunting communities it does work.
