Tell Geico what you think about its sponsorship of rodoes: sample letter
BACKGROUND| BY STEVE HINDI
Forget the cute little lizard, GEICO has reduced itself to enabling animal abuse at rodeos via sponsorship. If you care about animals, please cancel your GEICO policies. It’s so easy, a caveman can do it!

SAMPLE LETTER
To Whom It Concerns,
I am shocked to learn that Geiko sponsors rodeos, one of the most injurious and brutal events illegitimately involving animals. It is a documented fact that all rodeos are inherently cruel and subject animals to untold suffering, including severe injuries and death. Geico’s sponsorship of such animal cruelty is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by a knowing public. As such, I respectfully request that Geico sever any relationship it has with this violent attraction.
Please allow me to elaborate. Animals are subjected to cruel rituals, including choking, bucking, shocking, roping, and pulling. Animals are frequently immobilized by being roped around the neck, roped around the hooves, pulled, beaten, slammed, and electrocuted, all for the purpose of unnecessary human entertainment. This brief description cannot adequately illustrate the dangerous conditions to which the animals are subjected, but video footage has repeatedly established dozens of injuries, many crippling, some lethal, and all incompatible with any written humane policy. (You can find this evidence at the following site: http://www.sharkonline.org/) Additionally, although visual documentation can reinforce the physical injuries animals suffer, it lacks the ability to convey the terror felt by these sentient beings, forced to endure unquestionably fearful conditions in frenzied and exploitative states.
Furthermore, although Geico may pronounce that humane protocols must be followed according to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) standards, the visual evidence substantiates the position that these directives are being ignored. It is unacceptable that Geico continues to advocate via commercial sponsorship on behalf of rodeos that practice in inhumane manners, especially given Geico’s assertions that animal cruelty is contrary to its animal welfare policy.
Indeed, Geico continues and deliberately deceives regarding its financial relationship with rodeos: rodeos are unprincipled, causing much suffering and death, and as long as Geico continues to unnecessarily and selfishly capitalize on the mutilation, torture, and death of animals, I will not financially support you. It is important to recognize that consumers are increasingly rejecting those companies and events that are complicit in the vicious and unnecessary treatment of animals by shifting their loyalties to those companies and events that do not participate in the exploitation of animals.
I again request that Geico make both the ethical and financially-responsible decision to discontinue its support of rodeos.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
