Our Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) has commissioned a piece of sculpture by a man named Tom Otterness. Mr. Otterness is notorious for “adopting” a dog from an animal shelter, chaining him to a fence, shooting him, and then filming his agonizing death for “art’s sake”
Mr. Otterenss; criminal actions were recently uncovered by journalist Gary Indiana. In 2008 Mr. Otterness issued what he calls a public apology.
Ultimately he lost a commission in San Francisco (they were unaware of his past activities).
Sadly, my hometown knew of his past and hired him anyways.
Since the petition activated on October 2, we accumulated over 800 names.
Many local, regional, and the petition has gained national and global interest as well.
Consider adding your name if you believe he should be stopped. I love the MAG and spent many visits there as a child and now an adult. I realize we all make mistakes in our lives..but this one is heinous.

“Otterness has said it was an indefensible act made by an angry 25-year-old and has repeatedly apologized for the action.” Angry? So he took a dog from the shelter and did THAT? He is a psychopath. Shame on the Memorial Art Gallery – I hope there is an AR activist who will destroy the sculpture – for art’s sake, of course.
