Golbasi concentration camp – Turkey – Please contact the Mayor, sample message provided
By Avril Simms / Facebook Alert
The pictures speak for themselves. Please write, phone, email the mayor about the appalling conditions in the Golbasi dog shelter; a sample message below has been prepared for your use. This treatment of dogs is not acceptable in any “civilized ” country. Thank you.

SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Mayor Odabasi,
I am deeply concerned regarding the appalling conditions at the Golbasi Shelter. Dogs and puppies are kept under the most dreadful conditions, living in filthy surroundings, exposed to potential disease, provided no comforts or fresh water. The dogs are fed stale bread which is a wholly inadequate diet; consequentially, these dogs will most certainly fail to thrive and become ill. Immediate steps need to be taken NOW to protect the dogs and ensure that diseases are prevented.
I urge you to take the lead and help these desperate animals, they have no caretakers and do not deserve this suffering. As a leader in your city, your influence can provide the basic necessities to protecting these dogs, preventing colony outbreaks, and demonstrating to the global community that you are progressive and ethical.
Please see the footage of the Golbasi shelter and secure funding, food, and medical treatments to implement a well-being policy for these animals. Your actions will prove beneficial and be welcomed be an international collective.

I look forward to receiving a positive reply from you.
Thank you.

I can not believe this. With all the money coming in from tourists, they treat animals in a disgraceful manner not fit for a fly. Would they treat family members this way or how would they like to be treated in this manner. Europe is horrible for caring about animals, they view them as nothing really and toss them aside, the animals are mostly strays.

this is an outrage..I expected your country to be more civilized by now, but it seems hopeless, no human rights, no animal rights, still in dark ages, I hope your plans to join the EEC will still be boycotted!! Make a positive example for once, help these defenseless animals! show you have a heart and care!

Just shows how uneducated and uncaring these people are! They are NOT a third world country and if they have a problem with dogs breeding they should organise a national neutering scheme. Don”t think they will ever be a part of the E, U. untill this problem is resolved! Makes my blood boil !

I live in Ankara and went to the shelter to volunteer. Yes your pictures are accurate. But the information is not. There are 8 workers trying to care for all of these dogs, plus a few dedicated volunteers. These are the lucky dogs in Ankara. Other dogs in this part of the world are routinely poisoned, beaten to death, drowned, and shot. These workers are passionate about caring for these animals. They need HELP. The mayor of Golbasi refuses to answer the phone, send gravel to fill mud-holes, has tried diligently to shut down the shelter, and even tried to stop the building of a medical clinic. Be informed. Your letters have hurt, rather than helped, the dogs at the shelter. Try doing something different, like asking the mayor to support the shelter and to provide resources.
