BLM Extends Comment Period but for Whose Benefit, not the Wild Horses

July 31, 2010

From Straight from the Horse’s Heart
By R.T. Fitch

At the conclusion of this commentary is inserted a current press release announcing that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is extending the public comment period for the “New Direction” the BLM is taking with the Wild Horse and Burro program for an additional thirty days. A quick look at the statement’s face value and you would think it is a victory for the voting public, more time for the taxpayers of this land to comment on how the BLM and DOI have burned millions and millions of dollars for absolutely no reason (not discounting how many tens of thousands of wild horses they have allowed to go to slaughter and kill). And now the latest ploy is to ship, at your expense, western wild horses to leased acreage (Salazoos) in the mid-west where they will be sterilized and we, the public, can slowly watch our wild horses die off into only a memory, never to be seen again. And YOU get to pay for it all while it is FREE for them to stay where they are rightfully and lawfully located.

But under closer inspection it quickly becomes apparent that this extension is not driven by the goodness of Bob Abbey’s heart nor is it viewed as an opportunity handed to the public so that they can further cast their honest votes. NO; this is a direct and manipulated attempt to give the anti-horse factions an opportunity to further organize and invite the “horse-eaters” to continue their impotent attempts to pollute the public’s mind with additional misinformation.

The BLM knows that their broken policies and procedures not only do not work but that the bulk of America is on to their dirty little game. They are not giving the likes of you and me, the ones who pay their cushy salaries, more time to comment, no…a group from Wyoming has been pushing for the extension and the members of that group are no friends to horses.

In an effort to be fair and balanced, unlike the BLM who cannot even post correct numbers, we posted two articles last week on a Wyoming delegation that wanted the comment time extended.

Let’s just peel a few layers off from that smelly onion and take a look at the members of this delegation. Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) is anti-wild horse, pro-horse slaughter and the same is true of Sen. Enzi (R-WY) and Sen. Barrasso (R-WY). If you check their voting records and prior comments they all wanted the predatory and bloody business of horse slaughter brought to their beautiful state of Wyoming. (Ain’t technology great?)

It never fails to amaze me how the human race exterminates anything that does not suit its own needs at a given time. Currently at 6.8 billion and reaching 7 billion by the end of 2011, the human race is running out of land, food and water. There are so many people on this planet that are surplus to requirement, because they consume far more than they produce and yet we are not allowed to cull them, why? The horses have a right to life and do not pollute, by producing carbon. These horses produce no more methane than humans, they don’t eat other animals and live in a symbiotic relationship with the grasslands they inhabit. Humans, if allowed onto that land, will cover it with concrete, bitumen and buildings, rendering the land unproductive and valueless. Leave the horses alone, please!

Humans cannot seem to blend in anywhere, even amongst themselves. Always scrapping over who is going to be on top, have the most…money, power, status, toys, connections. Politicians who are thoroughly disconnected from the real world that the rest of us live in and it is even worse for our animal friends. We have in the U.S. our very own chamber of horrors for our wild and domesticated horses thanks to the BLM and anyone else who would kill for the almighty dollar. We live with a current government that has no interest in what it’s citizens want or desire for their own country and it’s wild animal populations. Someone in Washington decided that we the people do not matter and that our country is their playground to do with as they please. We want our wild horses to be left alone and to no longer be tortured and harassed by helicopters and the all-out-war “roundups” now in progress. What the BLM is doing to our wild horses is barbaric and cruel and needs to stop now! This is “our” country and they are “our” wild horses but unfortunately our “shout-out” keeps falling on deaf ears. We will never let up on this campaign against the BLM and the government while you continue to slaughter “our” wild horses. We want “our” wild horses left alone to live out their natural lives free from the constant abuse and cruelty that this government and the BLM inflict upon them mercilessly. If other countries want to eat horse meat then that is there ball of wax to deal with, not ours! Leave “our” wild horses out of your money-making game plans. They are not for sale. We expect to be listened to since it is our tax dollars that you, our government is sucking us dry of to carry out your dastardly plan against “our” wild horses. Get off of “our” wild horses backs and let them be, they do not deserve the horror you inflict upon them in your house of horrors, your slaughter houses. Stop killing “our” wild horses!

Interesting arguing point to the BLM and administering gov’t:
