HighestWelfare.Humane.Assured.GoodPractices.Vegetarian. Regenerative.Flexitarian.Lies...
What is the difference between No Welfare, High Welfare, and Highest Welfare when they all require animals to die? Only human comfort, NONE protect the actual animals. The most humane, ethical, and honest Webster-defined "welfare" is NOT exploiting animals - not using, not wearing, not eating, not killing - animals. The only meaningful position is vegan, everything else is just how humans euphemize animals' required suffering and violent deaths: no human exploits animals because they honestly believe that NOT exploiting animals is UNethical or INhumane.
Demand Endangered Species Protection For Wolverines

Karen Lyons Kalmenson
With fewer than 250 individuals left in the Rocky Mountain States, wolverines (gulo gulo) can no longer withstand the cumulative effects of climate change, shrinking habitat, development and other human activities including recreational trapping.
Only endangered species status will prevent legal, recreational trapping of wolverines.
Being amazing mountaineers, who can easily and quickly scale huge mountain tops, wolverines depend on snow-covered areas for finding food and mates, migrating, building dens and raising their young.
Yet the USFWS is proposing listing wolverines as merely ‘threatened”, with a special rule that would still allow many of the human activities that are already causing their numbers to dwindle. This comes on the heels of a few vocal states questioning the climate science that supports the need for protection. These states have a vested interested in continuing their recreational trapping programs and they oppose wolverine protection for political reasons.
What You Can Do:
Wolverines need full endangered-species protection – they cannot afford anything less if they are to survive. Please urge the USFWS to put science before politics and protect wolverines so that they have a chance for survival. Please copy and paste the comment below, personalize it and send it today.

Sample Comment
I urge you to grant full endangered-species protection and critical habitat designation for wolverines.
Wolverines are extremely vulnerable to indiscriminate and baited deadly traps and snares. Studies in Montana have shown that a large number of female wolverines are pregnant when trappers kill them. Squires et al. (2007) found that, of the 14 wolverines instrumented and followed in the Pioneer Mountains study area, 6 were killed in traps, including 4 adult males and 2 pregnant adult females. The risk of wolverines getting killed in traps set for wolves is increasing and these incidents are likely not reported at all.
Fewer than 250 individuals remain in the wild. Given the fatal incidents caused by traps set for wolves (which are likely not reported), and the cumulative threats posed by other human activities coupled with the impacts of climate change, wolverines need to be fully protected as an endangered species to ensure their survival.

Joan Jett switches from Macy’s South Dakota float after ranchers protest

Wikimedia Commons
Source CNN
By Michael Martinez and Carolyn Sung
(CNN) — Rock star Joan Jett was removed from a parade float representing South Dakota in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade after ranchers protested her appearance, saying she’s a vegetarian and a critic of their livestock production.
Jett is a supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the world’s largest animal rights group that promotes a vegetarian diet and condemns factory farms and ranches.
“I’ve decided to switch from South Dakota to another float because people’s political agendas were getting in the way of what should be a purely entertainment driven event,” Jett said in a statement Saturday. “I will remain focused on entertaining the millions of people watching, who will be celebrating a great American tradition.”
The trade group for ranchers in South Dakota complained about Jett’s placement on the state’s float for the New York parade, CNN affiliate KEVN reported.
“So, of course, when we learned that about Miss Jett, we were rightly concerned about her representing South Dakota and a state that is so heavily reliant on agriculture and livestock production to drive our economy,” Jodie Anderson of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association told the station.
A Macy’s spokesman said Jett and her Blackhearts band will be moved to another float, and another undetermined performer will take Jett’s place on the South Dakota float, the affiliate said.
A PETA leader said the controversy reflected what the group deems as problems in the cattle industry.
“Thanks to South Dakota’s reactionary ranchers, people across the country have learned why Joan Jett supports PETA. The meat trade can’t stand any scrutiny of its cruelty,” PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews said in a statement.
Many celebrities who support PETA have appeared on previous Macy’s parade floats or performed without controversy, PETA spokeswoman Moira Colley said. They include “Glee” actress Lea Michele, Jay McGuiness of “The Wanted”, singer Jay Sean, Alan Cumming and Carrie Underwood, Colley said.

Karl Lagerfeld: Have Compassion for All Animals

IDA
Please click here to send a message to Karl Lagerfeld asking him to expand his love for his cat to all fur-bearing animals.
Designer Karl Lagerfeld just released his new holiday accessory line, inspired by his beloved cat, Choupette. Choupette Lagerfeld is probably the most famous cat in the fashion industry. She has her own Twitter account, two maids, and a driver.
Although we praise Lagerfeld’s deep affection for his feline companion, we vehemently oppose his continued use of fur. Over two million cats and dogs each year are victims of the fur trade. Lagerfeld used faux fur in his 2010 Chanel collection, yet he continues to be very pro-fur. Earlier this year, he issued a statement about his Fendi show in Milan: “Fendi is fur! Fur is Fendi!”

Urge Royal Purple Raceway to Drop Great Bull Run

PETA
BACKGROUND
Despite receiving information from PETA about the inherent cruelty of The Great Bull Run, Royal Purple Raceway refuses to consider humane alternatives to its planned events, in which live bulls will be forced to participate in bull runs inspired by Pamplona’s dangerous Running of the Bulls.
There is no way to ensure that these animals won’t suffer or become injured at these events. After having been loaded onto trucks, potentially driven hundreds of miles, and herded into an arena filled with screaming people, the bulls will run in panic as they are chased by horses through a rowdy crowd. As they rush through the course, they can crash into the barriers, fall and break their legs, or collide with and injure each other.
Every year, many humans are injured—including being trampled or even gored and killed—during Pamplona’s Running of the Bulls. In 2009, a participant died after a bull’s horn penetrated his neck and lung. Two people were hospitalized following a Great Bull Run event at Virginia Motorsports Park in August 2013. The inherent recklessness of these events can’t be denied. Although the human participants are warned of the very real danger, the bulls are not able to opt out. Because it’s cruel to animals and dangerous for humans, The Great Bull Run has been condemned by caring people nationwide.
There are countless fun, adrenaline-packed events that the venue could hold that would not put animals at risk. New Orleans, for instance, holds an annual event in which The Big Easy Rollergirls roller derby team chases participants through the French Quarter. Another option would be to replace the live bulls with humans in bull costumes for a fun, family-friendly event that doesn’t put animals in harm’s way.
Please contact Royal Purple Raceway Executive Vice President and General Manager Seth Angel and politely ask him to drop this cruel, dangerous event.

Dear Executive Vice President and General Manager Angel.
Please cancel the Running of the Bulls event in which live bulls will be forced to participate in a bull run. Allow me to elaborate on how dangerous and cruel this event is.
After having been loaded onto trucks, potentially driven hundreds or thousands of miles, and herded into an arena filled with hundreds of screaming people, bulls used for running events will bolt out of the pen in panic when the starting gate opens.
When running out of the pen, the animals risk crashing into barriers, falling and breaking their legs, or colliding with and injuring each other.
It is furthermore dangerous for humans; in a recent event, 23 people were injured, including goring injuries. Would there be liability issues?
Please drop this cruel, dangerous event and instead consider humane alternatives. New Orleans, for instance, holds an annual event in which The Big Easy Rollergirls roller derby team chases participants through the French Quarter. Another option would be to replace the live bulls with humans in bull costumes for a fun, family-friendly event that doesn’t put animals in harm’s way.
Thank you for considering this urgent appeal.

China to Phase Out Mandatory Cosmetics Animal Testing
BEIJING– Humane Society International and The Humane Society of the United States’ Be Cruelty-Free campaign welcomes the announcement by China’s Food & Drug Administration that from June 2014, China plans to remove its mandatory animal test requirements for domestically manufactured cosmetic products. For the first time ever, Chinese companies producing “non-special use cosmetics” such as shampoo or perfume will have the option to substantiate product safety using existing safety data for raw ingredients, or European Union-validated non-animal tests instead of having to submit product samples to the government for testing on rabbits, mice and rats. HSI estimates that as many as 300,000 rabbits, mice and other animals may be subject to cosmetics chemical testing each year in China alone.
The CFDA’s announcement comes less than five months after the successful launch of HSI’s groundbreaking Be Cruelty-Free China campaign. Based in Beijing, HSI’s team has been working diligently with Chinese policymakers and regulators to advance the acceptance of non-animal tests and accelerate a move away from animal testing. This culminated in the first-ever review of China’s cosmetics law in 20 years, with Be Cruelty-Free China submitting a detailed technical proposal outlining cosmetics safety testing without animals.
Troy Seidle, HSI’s Be Cruelty-Free director, said: “This news from China marks a major milestone in our campaign and could constitute a significant watershed moment in our global effort to end cosmetics animal testing worldwide. HSI’s team has prioritised efforts to transform the future for animals in laboratories in China. This development is only the beginning of what we hope to be a paradigm shift towards 21st-century science without animals. We will meet with Beijing officials in the coming days to look closely at the detail of this cosmetics announcement, but it looks like there could at last be a bright future for cruelty-free companies in China and hope on the horizon for an end to cosmetics cruelty.”
Initially the new rules will only apply to cosmetics manufactured in China. However, CFDA has stated that once the new system has been established, it may be expanded to include imported products and certain “special use” cosmetics as well. This would be a major step towards removing trade barriers between China and the EU, enabling cruelty-free companies worldwide to sell their products on the Chinese mainland without compromising their ‘no animal testing’ policies.
Be Cruelty-Free will continue to work with Chinese officials toward a complete ban on cosmetics animal testing, and in the meantime will work with its cruelty-free corporate partners to assess the new system once implemented next year. HSI, along with The HSUS and The Human Toxicology Project consortium, recently awarded an $80,000 grant to the Institute for In Vitro Sciences to provide hands-on training in non-animal tests to China’s government regulators and scientists.
Be Cruelty-Free China is part of the largest campaign in the world to end cosmetics animal testing. Globally, Humane Society International and its Be Cruelty-Free partners are leading the charge to end cosmetics cruelty in Australia, Brazil, China, Korea, New Zealand, Russia and beyond. Be Cruelty-Free USA is spearheaded by The HSUS and Humane Society Legislative Fund.

US destroys six-ton ivory stockpile. But will it really help?

Karen Lyons Kalmenson
Source News Daily
The United States has destroyed six tons of confiscated elephant ivory, in a move wildlife groups hailed as a bold message to criminal traffickers that the ivory is worthless.
The ivory stockpile was pulverized by an industrial rock crusher at a US Fish and Wildlife Service refuge near Denver, Colorado on Thursday.
The move was “a clear message that the nation will not tolerate wildlife crime that threatens to wipe out the African elephant and a host of other species around the globe,” the FWS said in a statement.
Witnesses to the event included representatives of African nations and top conservationists from around the globe.
“Rising demand for ivory is fueling a renewed and horrific slaughter of elephants in Africa, threatening remaining populations across the continent,” said Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell.
“We encourage other nations to join us in destroying confiscated ivory stockpiles and taking other actions to combat wildlife crime.”
The Philippines, Kenya and Gabon have already destroyed their stockpiles of ivory tusks and trinkets.
The US stockpile was accumulated over the course of 25 years, and was seized during undercover investigations of organized smuggling operations or confiscated at the border.
The FWS said most of the ivory, prior to being seized, was headed for illegal sale in the United States or overseas.
“By crushing its contraband ivory tusks and trinkets, the US government sends a signal that it will not tolerate the senseless killing of elephants,” said Carter Roberts, president of World Wildlife Fund.
The multimillion dollar illegal ivory trade has driven the loss of three-quarters of all African forest elephants in the past decade, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society.
“To end the elephant poaching crisis, we know that we must take a three-pronged approach: stop the killing, stop the trafficking, stop the demand,” said WCS president Cristian Samper.
The US stockpile destruction “demonstrates its own commitment to eliminating the market for illegal ivory,” he said, adding that the United States could do more, such as establish a moratorium on all ivory sales within its borders.
Experts say poachers killed 35,000 elephants last year, at a rate of 96 animals per day.

Punishment to fit the crime yet to be decided for ‘Roll on London’

Wikimedia Commons, not London
BACKGROUND | SOURCE EXAMINER
It was a chilling and egregious crime of animal cruelty that initially occurred in Northern California in August 2012 when the Del Norte County Shelter reached out for help from animal advocates for a puppy who was turned in with fractured bones to his front legs.
The young pit bull named London was rushed by Panda Paws Rescue to the Animal Care Clinic in Vancouver, Wash. where his x-rays revealed both legs and shoulders had been severely fractured and shattered; most likely the result of a fall from an elevated height. Adding to that were the severe burns on the pads of his paws left untreated for months, leading authorities to believe London had been left for an extended period of time on hot asphalt or cement.
The spunky little pooch, despite the gross inhumanities done to him, still wagged his tail and learned to motor around by scooting on his behind. London underwent surgery to remove his front legs and shoulders.
Read more about this story by clicking here.
Sarah Anderson and Zachary Hinton were arrested less than two weeks later for the heinous crime done to the defenseless puppy and charged with felony animal cruelty. The former owners pleaded no contest in court, however the Crescent City Police Department’s report indicated the puppy was slammed against the floor for chewing on the couch.
In October, Sarah Anderson was sentenced to three years probation and is not allowed to own or possess any pets during that period.
Zachary Hinton faces six months in jail, three years of probation and can be prohibited from owning any animals during the term of his probation, however a continuance on his sentencing was granted until Dec. 5, and animal advocates hope Hunter faces the maximum punishment for the cruelty done to London.
At the Dec. 5 sentencing, the human companion of London will be able to speak.
A Facebook page called Roll on London is asking animal lovers and humane advocates to respectfully contact the judge:
“Many people have asked about writing letters to the court, and now that there is a continuance until 12/5 for sentencing, I think it is a GREAT time for you to pen your polite but concerned thoughts and send them off to

Please be sure to check out London’s photos on the slideshow. They will surely make you smile.

SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Honorable Doehl,
I have learned of extremely disturbing and malicious cases of animal cruelty committed by Zachary Hinton and I am writing to express my support of sentencing this defendant to the maximum penalty allowed under the law. Zachary Hinton has committed deliberate and methodical abuse and torture on a dog in Northern California in August 2012. It is essential to recognize that Zachary Hinton decision to harm this gentle, innocent non-human animal, young pit bull named London, was premeditated as demonstrated by the chronicle of events.
When I try to imagine what possible motive animal abusers entertain for subjecting their animal victims to such malicious, heinous acts of brutality, I fail, but I am thankful for a lack of cognitive understanding and rationalization. To voluntarily engage in such malicious behaviour suggests sadistic tendencies, and Zachary Hinton’s actions, causing unmitigated pain and suffering, demonstrates his incontrovertible lack of morality regarding other living beings and a gross disrespect for the law. In fact, a person who shows such a remarkable lack of compassion towards non-human animals has the ability to show such indifference towards human animals. This link between animal and human abuse has been established, and if we excuse Mr. Hinton’s criminal behaviour, or agree to a lesser punishment, we only harm ourselves by unjustly nullifying cruelty as acceptable behaviour.
I am hoping that you will take an unyielding position against animal cruelty and hold Mr. Hinton accountable by sentencing him in accordance with the maximum penalty allowed. If the justice system does not administer the harshest penalty available, it is indeed excusing Mr. Hinton’s malicious behaviour towards sentient beings, and to excuse this type of sadistic cruelty harms all by disregarding the basic moral tenet of respecting life and appreciating the value of it. We need to teach our children that the law does not excuse, allow, or enable cruelty against human or non-human animals. We need to demonstrate in both word and action that the human essence of empathy does not exist to excuse maliciousness, it exists to provide compassion and justice to the brutalized and punishment to those who willingly deviate from this capacity. If we do not do our duty to provide this, we harm animals and invite injustice into our society.
I know your time is limited and I want to thank you for your attention and consideration to this urgent appeal.

Israel Will Trap, Neuter, and Return 45,000 Street Cats

Care2
Source Care2
By Piper Hoffman
Street cats are everywhere in Israel, in huge numbers. I and others can attest that they don’t look good: they tend to be dirty and skinny, often with visible skin infections and eye problems. Their lifespans average just one or two years, compared to 13-17 years for cats who live indoors or in managed colonies.
Most of the cats’ human neighbors have historically considered them vermin and wanted them gone. People have yelled at me for feeding cats near their apartments or houses. One Israeli veterinarian says, “in Israel it’s as though no one cares. There is no awareness here.” Even cat lovers lack basic awareness about solutions to the enormous street cat population. A spokesperson for the Israeli chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said, “the public is at fault…because people are not spaying/neutering their pets.”
Israelis resist neutering male companion animals in particular, just as Americans have and still do — witness the commercial success of Neuticles, artificial testicles that can be implanted to make a neutered cat appear intact. The manufacturer promotes Neuticles as a way to aid “the pet’s owner with the trauma associated with altering.” I’m trying to make sense of that. Maybe the trauma and resistance result from men projecting their own fears of castration or insecurities about their masculinity onto their cats. Whatever their problem is, these people are not acting in their cats’ interests. Neutering can preserve their health and, by reducing their aggression, lower the risk of injury from violent fights.
The outlook for street cats in Israel is improving thanks to changing attitudes. The Israeli government just committed 4.5 million NIS (about 1.27 million in U.S. dollars) to trap, spay or neuter, and release 45,000 feral cats before June 2014. There are an estimated 39,000 street cats in the Tel Aviv area alone — just one shelter, the SPCA, takes in 200 kittens every day during breeding season — so the government’s plan is not a comprehensive solution.
Nonetheless, it is a huge step forward. TNR is the only viable option to improve Israeli street cats’ quality of life. The country has few animal shelters, so rounding up neighborhood cats and dropping them off at a shelter doesn’t work — they will either be turned away or killed. Adopting feral cats, excluding young kittens, rarely succeeds because they have learned to fear humans and usually can’t change their ways. When I found an apparently orphaned kitten on the street a few years ago, days before I was scheduled to return to the United States, I called every person, organization and governmental agency I could think of looking for someone to take him in. None of them could help. (Eventually I found the little guy’s mother and reunited the family.)
The government’s cash infusion could not only save cats’ lives; it could also improve their health. When feral cats are spayed or neutered and then returned to a colony that has conscientious human managers, they can stay quite healthy. Good colony managers keep the fixed cats fed, provide places to sleep that protect them from the elements, monitor their health and trap new arrivals for spaying or neutering.
Israeli animal advocates, like CHAI (Concern for Helping Animals in Israel), emphasize that TNR efforts will not make a difference without excellent colony managers. Others argue that TNR will increase the street cat population, based on a study by a student at Tel Aviv University.
The United States is full of individuals and organizations, like hospitals, universities, airports and military bases, that reject TNR and instead kill feral cats on their property. The fact that Israel is embracing TNR on a national level could eventually put it far ahead of the United States in terms of treating ferals humanely.
It could also mean that the next time I visit the country and go for a walk, I won’t have to carry cat treats with me because I won’t pass hungry ferals on my way. TNR could improve not just cats’ quality of life, but mine too.

Can you imagine if, for your birthday, instead of a fun party with all your friends, you were expected to torture and kill an innocent animal with your bare hands?
This is the reality for teenagers as young as 14 years old during the First Fruits Festival, an annual event in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, intended to celebrate the coming of age of Zulu warriors.
According to reports, approximately 40 young men push sand or mud down a bull’s throat, gouge out his eyes, and twist his genitals before kicking and beating him to death and tearing his flesh apart with their hands—all of this to prove their “courage.”
DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN TO BULLS!
Please contact South African officials and urge them to STOP this bloody First Fruits Festival tradition immediately.

Taiwanese Government: Cancel plans to expose unvaccinated beagle puppies to the rabies virus now
Please click HERE to sign and send automatic letter
Background Source PCRM

The Taiwanese Council of Agriculture (COA) is planning to test the infectivity of a new strain of rabies virus in dogs. The government agency aims to inject rabies into at least 14 puppies, and it is hoping that delaying the experiments to 2014 would let the world forget about this awful experiment.
The infectivity of the rabies virus and the resulting course of infection in dogs have been well established after decades of research. The proposed experiment is unnecessary and cruel, especially when more scientifically valid research can be conducted without harming animals.
Doctors have urged COA to focus on an aggressive rabies vaccination campaign asking all citizens of Taiwan to vaccinate their dogs and other animals – instead of wasting valuable time, effort, and money on useless experiments. But COA does not appear to be listening, so we are now calling on Taiwan’s premier Jiang Yi-huah. Please fill out the form to send Premier Jiang an e-mail.

Chinese Slave Who Smuggled Note in Halloween Product Has Been Found

Care2

By Piper Hoffman
Your Halloween decorations may have been made by Chinese slaves. Oregonian Julie Keith learned this from a horrifying letter a slave laborer had slipped between two Styrofoam tombstones in a “Totally Ghoul” holiday kit she bought at Kmart. Care2 Causes told her story last December in “Chinese Labor Camp Inmate Smuggles Out Plea for Help In Kmart Product.” Since then, the letter writer has apparently been identified.
The letter described conditions in the Masanjia Labor Camp. Thousands of inmates worked 15 hours a day, seven days a week, on pain of beatings and torture, the whistleblower wrote. These were not convicts: they were presumed guilty, usually of political crimes or subscribing to a banned religion, and imprisoned without trials.
Keith sought help. Human rights organizations didn’t respond, and U.S. customs officials said there was nothing they could do besides put her report in a folder, though they now call the allegations an “investigative priority.” Ignored by authorities, Keith posted the letter on Facebook. Journalists picked up the story. One outlet, CNN, launched a search for the letter’s author, and remarkably, it seems that they found him.
Speaking under the alias Mr. Zhang, the self-proclaimed writer, who had since been released from Masanjia, told CNN, “the first thing they do is to take your human dignity away and humiliate you.” Zhang said the prison used beatings, sleep deprivation and torture to control inmates. Another former inmate, Liu Hua, has said the camp was “hell on earth.” She described guards ordering other prisoners to beat her and losing consciousness during one such assault; when she awoke, she was forced back to work.
A third former inmate said guards chained detainees up and sexually abused them. Chen Shenchun, who received a two-year sentence for continuing a petition campaign to recover unpaid wages from a state-owned factory, told of electric batons left on her skin so long she could smell burning flesh, and of being dragged by her hair.
China arrested Zhang a few months before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, apparently because he was a follower of Falun Gong, which China considers a cult and has outlawed. Falun Gong is a spiritual movement that claims to be based on Buddhism. Zhang and others say that Masanjia’s guards were particularly rough on Falun Gong members, who may have constituted about half the camp’s population. A report from the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom found that the Falun Gong are subject to arbitrary arrest, long detentions and torture, which has resulted in 3,500 deaths. They make up two-thirds of the alleged torture victims whose cases make it to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture.
Other inmates were relegated to labor camps for criticizing the government or for petty crimes.
Zhang wrote 20 letters over two years about the plight of the prison camp’s inmates and packaged them in Halloween decoration kits, which was no small feat. He had to procure paper and a pen, neither of which prisoners were allowed to have. The only time he could write was during the already inadequate sleeping period, but even then the lights were kept on and guards watched every move. Zhang had to lay on his side with his back to the guard and prop the paper on his pillow, painstakingly spelling out the English he learned in college, then smuggle the missives into boxes that looked like they were headed for English-speaking countries.
His bravery and hard work, along with Keith’s determination to help, shone a light on Chinese “Ideological Education Schools.” China’s Communist party claims that it will stop using forced labor by the end of 2013. Masanjia has closed down, but it is only one of more than 300 Chinese labor camps, according to Amnesty International. A China researcher at the organization, Corinna-Barbara Francis, says closing the camps would be hard to do because they make money, and not just from the inmates’ labor. Prison guards collect bribes to ease up on particular detainees or even release them early. “Given the serious money being made in these places, the economic incentive to keep the system going is really powerful,” Francis said.
While Zhang is free, thousands of others continue to suffer in reeducation camps that treat inmates as slaves, while calling them “students.” This is one more reason not to buy products made in China.

A shocking undercover investigation that first broke on CBSNews.com has exposed that live animals are being torn apart. They need your help: GO VEGAN.
Background PETA
At L.L. Bean heir Linda Bean’s Maine Lobster in Rockland, Maine, workers are ripping live animals apart limb from limb. Some are dumped, still alive, into boiling water, while others are left in bins to die in agony.
Workers tear off live lobsters’ claws and then use metal pipes to pry their heads from their bodies. Tails and claws are saved while the remaining parts of the lobsters’ bodies are trashed, still alive and able to feel pain.
Crabs are suffering, too, as they are slammed against sharp metal spikes to break off their top shells, and then their exposed internal organs are violently scrubbed off with spinning brushes. Still alive, they are then slowly lowered into a vat of boiling water.
Watch the undercover video to see the shocking proof:
Lobsters and crabs feel pain. Because lobsters do not have a centralized nervous system—but instead have ganglia, or masses of nervous tissue, spread throughout their bodies—their deaths can be prolonged. A lobster’s nervous system continues to function even after the animal is dismembered.
Lobsters are like us in many ways: They have a long childhood and an awkward adolescence, and just like us, they carry their young for nine months and can live to be more than 100 years old.
Around 2.3 million lobsters and countless crabs will be killed at this slaughterhouse this year alone. Don’t let more animals suffer this fate.

Please click HERE for Pet Abuse Warnings
This DNA Warnings list was compiled by animal advocates using evidence and allegations made by people claiming to have had first-hand experience and information from other websites, including the news, police and court records, vets, animal control, and other agencies. The advocates behind this website believe there is enough information to warrant issuing a warning pertaining to these people (which include rescues, transports, fosters, and adopters). We would not give entrust any living animal to them; however, what you do with this information is up to you…just remember if you work with them and anything happens, you were warned.
More additions, information, and photos will continually be added to this list.
OC Note: This list does NOT include the farms, sellers, buyers, and other personnel of people involved in the food, pharmacy, fur, and fun businesses, all of which abuse, torment, and murder animals by the billions, every day.
