USDA: 4 million calves die yearly in US. Why do you still breastfeed? From another species? 
...because least harm is always better than harm. You don't kill/consume/wear/use animals because you honestly believe that NOT killing/consuming/wearing/using animals is INhumane or UNethical. 
Not abusing animals doesn't make human animals sick. Plant-based diets are superior. 
Pretend abusing, harming, and killing is "humane"; people love to define others' suffering in manners that comforts the humans who cause the suffering. 
If you're triggered by being a decent human, then you've been successfully indoctrinated.

There was one in my yard years back who wouldn’t fly, she just kept walking around, so I watched and walked around with her, hoping she’d get somewhat used to me, and she eventually walked into a carrier I had with me. We took her to a bird rescue and it turned out she had some infection under a wing. The rescue treated and kept her until she was well again and able to fly.

I just don’t understand the reasons why many people despise these poor birds…. It always tugs at my heartstrings when I see them crossing busy roads in search of some crumbs, while drivers don’t even slow down or brake to let them pass. Perhaps they are not very clever birds and when they fly they are a tad clumsy, but their beady eyes and those feathery outfits of varied hues I find them stunning!
Every creature on this planet has a right to exist… perhaps quite a bit less so the speciesists who feel they own the planet at the expense of them, the “voiceless”…
