What SeaWorld Doesn’t Want You to Know
This is Lolita:
When she was a child, she was ripped from her ocean home in the waters off the coast of Washington state. This majestic animal, who once swam more than 100 miles a day alongside her family, was taken away from all that she knew and forced to live and perform in a tiny cement tank in Miami.
Dr. Terry Newby, a marine mammal expert who was present at Lolita’s capture, is haunted by her story and the chilling photographs that he took at the time of her capture.
After 42 years, Lolita, who has a remarkable will to survive, is still confined to a tiny cement tank and longing for her ocean home, where an orca thought to be her mother still thrives today and her family is protected under the Endangered Species Act. Help her now by learning the truth about Lolita’s capture and how 30 others were captured, torn away from their families, and sent to SeaWorld.

we dream of oceans,
not swimming pools.
where we can live by
our own,

we dream of our pods.
our unbreakable bonds,

I agree, thanks, Debera.

This happened because of corporate greed. My heart bleeds for these animals. I wonder how those heartless assholes would feel if they were taken from their environment and dropped into a cage and forced to perform tricks for food. I agree with Debera Delgatto — they are heartless bastards!

Heartbreaking. As long as people find this entertaining many sea creatures will be exploited for money. We have to raise awareness, particularly with the next generation, about the cruelty to animals.

I completely agree, thank you, Emy. I think people would be absolutely shocked to learn about the dolphin massacre annually in Taiji, from where most entertainment park dolphins come. It’s absolutely barbaric.

Hello, I’m currently editing a story about Lolita for an article. I would like to get in touch with Dr. Terry Newby. Would you be able to connect me with him?
