A young mother found guilty of adultery in Sudan has been sentenced to death by stoning.
Intisar Sharif Abdallah, 20, was tried without access to a lawyer and is being detained with her four-month-old baby.
Even worse, Abdallah admitted to the charges only after her brother reportedly beat her. The man held with her reportedly denied the charges and was released.
She is said to be shackled by the legs and in psychological distress, unable to understand the nature of her sentence. (Arabic, the language in which she is charged, is not her first language.)
Petition Text
Your Excellency,
It has come to my attention that Intisar Sharif Abdallah, the young mother of a 4-month-old is being held in a prison in Khartoum.
Abdallah has been accused of adultery, and is sentenced to die by stoning. However, she was tried without access to a lawyer and only admitted the charges after her brother beat her.
Please squash this sentence against Intisar Sharif Abdallah and release her immediately.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

This is so barbaric and from the stone age how can anyone justify stoning a woman to death, even this is not her language she is tried under and with no lawyer. She only admitted to adultery when her own brother beat her to confess, what a stupid set up of trying to control women who maybe innocent in this Country..

Please re-thing and re-evaluate your decision. Its so unfair to not at least explain Intisar … also to beat her is not going to give the truth. This is so undemorcratic and makes Sudan look primitive in its ruling. Think of her baby growing up without its mother, so many things wrong with this sentence.
