Man Killed by Rooster at Cockfight | From CBS 47

Details have been released on a bizarre death in Tulare County.
A 35-year-old man was killed while attending an illegal cockfight near Earlimart.
Investigators say Jose Luis Ochoa was cut by a razor attached to the rooster’s leg.
Lieutenant Rick Ko with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department showed CBS47 some of the weapons used in cockfighting. They are tiny razors attached to the rooster’s leg that they use like knives during the fight. “We’ve seen people cut with minor cuts when they put on the knives … but nothing severe,” said Ko.

Tulare sheriff’s deputies showed up to investigate the illegal activity and people scattered. At that time, one of the birds apparently jumped at Ochoa and the knife on its leg cut a major artery in the man’s calf. He died at a hospital in Delano.
Authorities believe this is the first time a human has died as a result of a cockfight.
Lieutenant Ko said, “It’s still against the law to participate in cockfighting, to be a spectator at a cockfight, and raise animals particularly for fighting with paraphernalia.”
The sheriff’s department says there are often a lot of other crimes associated with cockfighting, such as drugs, illegal gambling, and animal cruelty.

I am so sorry for the great loss. People are foolish so such bad things happened. Good begets good and bad begets bad. The people associated with cock fighting should be punished. The govt should ban such activities completely. To tackle foolish and barbaric people is only the strict law.

All I have as for my opinion is, “God don’t like ugly”.. My grandma told me this.. As far as I’m concerned, the fighting bird gets my vote.. It’s as sick to watch/be there, as it is to promote such cruel, cowardly acts w/any animals.. Next time, these losers need to practice on each other to get it right.. Maybe this way, these morons won’t be so quick to fight these birds again since it didn’t go so well w/each other.. Which, they wouldn’t have the gonads to do anyway.. Now whose the chickens?? These are the type that have the nerve to tell their kids to, “Go outside, & find something to do”.. These are the ones you keep your animals/kids away from.. Glad none are related to me.. Lucky me….Put them all on an island, it’s cheaper than paying for court, & the fines aren’t worth it.. These brainless idiots need a wake up the 1st time….A year in jail/throw them in the ring w/the birds.. I like that idea.. I feel so sorry for these birds..

It happened to a trainer in India last December. He was pushing a tired cock into another bout when he flew at him, severing his jugular. The trainer died on the spot. The cock disappeared in the shrubbery.

The world would be such a less barbaric place if men were neutered. And I am serious. No gang bangers, no wars, no rapists, no violence…. why do we neuter male dogs, cats, goats, horses, bulls… etc? To stop the fighting, to turn them into well behaved citizens. The first on the neuter list should be Michael Vick. Just save semen in a sperm bank. It’s all just testosterone run amuck. Ants and bees have it right. Right now gang bangers are running our prisons, neuter them.
