BCI Investigating Harrison County Dog Pound
From The Examiner | Dog News

Harrison County, OH – The pictures taken just yesterday don’t lie…frigid temperatures have left dogs suffering in deplorable conditions at the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, OH. The photos reveal water bowls frozen over, frozen feces, and dogs with their bodies stuck in wire doors.
The tax-payer funded dog pound is a colossal mess and it’s only getting worse. A statement was released just this morning that the shelter intends to euthanize all dogs at the facility in 72 hours. In the meantime, the dogs continue to suffer.
Languishing in filthy kennel runs that are not protected from the harsh elements. The facility has no exterior walls…nothing to protect those housed here from facing the bitter cold. Adding to the misery are the unsanitary conditions that lead to an increase in disease.

Rescuers attempting to pulls dogs from the facility have reported that there are dogs already suffering from the dreaded Parvo virus. Statements have been released that there are dogs with bloody diarrhea – dogs suffering without medical treatment.
Imagine the horror of dying from a dreadful disease while lying on feces in below-freezing temperatures. Imagine the fear and depression that a dog experiences at a “normal” animal shelter and then compound those feelings with the abject misery caused by conditions that no living creature should have to endure. This is not acceptable.
And at the tax-payers’ expense? This is wrong on every level. There is no excuse for conditions such as this anywhere in our nation. The United States of America is not a third-world country.
The following are a list of contacts to send your thoughts to. Please share this information far and wide. The forecast for Cadiz, OH, is 27 and snow today – a forecasted high of only 23 tomorrow. Imagine those temperatures for a moment as you reach out to the officials in charge.
Please contact the Ohio Governor initially as the commissioners have not been responsive to all calls (according to past alerts regarding this situation) | sr:

Letter suggestion to the County Commissioners, courtesy of Diane A.:
Dear Commissioners,
I am writing to you on behalf of the many dogs at the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, Ohio, who have been left outdoors to suffer extremely cold weather. They have no access to shelter to get warm or water because it is frozen.
This is a tax-payer funded facility and I understand that rescuers are already seeing the Parvo virus and the dogs are not receiving medical treatment.
I am asking for you to please take immediate action to help these dogs. It is cruel to leave these animals to suffer in filthy conditions and in such cold weather.

ohio you are a disgrace
this is much more than
simple egg on your face
this is slaughter
simple and plain
euthanasia is murder
do you not strain
at how these innocent dogs
are dying
frightened and cold
in terror crying
we are watching and spreading
the word
about your heartless cruelty
mean and absurd
if the tables turned and
you were they
you would not want to be
treated this way!!!!

For Goodness sake..have a heart..anyone with an ounce of intelligence understands that a living, breathing, feeling animal feels pain, love, hunger and many emotions as humans..JUST because they cannot speak and TELL YOU..does NOT mean that they are not suffering. How can you get any pleasure out of letting animals live a life of pain and starvation and the feeling of abandonment and they sit a wait for one second of your attention and BASIC food and water….How can you live with yourself…are you proud of your behavior…I bet you are more guilty of lifes sins then an animal that just wait for the simply waits for a human that has compassion. How would you like it if your children was treated like that? With actions or in-actions makes you a superior being does not make any sense. I only hope you can feel their pain and help turn this abuse around.
