North Utah Valley Animal Shelter sells animals for vivisection

To visitors, North Utah Valley Animal Shelter (NUVAS) may seem like a typical safe haven for animals. The facility’s intake documents describe dogs as “very cute” and “cuddly” and state that they “love to play fetch” and “enjoy belly rubs”—perhaps reminding you of a loving canine companion you share your home with and consider a member of the family. Tragically, however, these words describe many dogs the North Utah Valley Animal Shelter has sold to the University of Utah for invasive and deadly experiments. Dogs recently purchased from the animal shelter had holes cut into their chests and necks and pacemakers implanted onto their hearts in order to induce irregular heartbeats; the dogs were then killed and dissected.
North Utah Valley Animal Shelter is the only animal shelter in the state of Utah that continues to betray animals in its care and profit from the abuse of these animals in cruel and deadly experiments. Learn about Max, Gracie Lou, and other dogs who were denied a second chance at a loving home, and tell North Utah Valley Animal Shelter to stop its despicable practice of selling dogs and cats for experimentation.
MESSAGE TEXT
I was dismayed to learn that–although every other animal shelter in the state has ended the shameful practice–the North Utah Valley Animal Shelter continues to betray the animals it is charged with protecting by selling them to the University of Utah for cruel and deadly experiments.
Taxpayers support animal shelters in the hope that the facilities will help alleviate animal suffering in this world, not contribute to it by treating homeless dogs and cats as cheap laboratory equipment for animal experimenters. I urge you to immediately stop violating the trust of Utah taxpayers and animals and to make the shelter stop releasing dogs and cats to the University of Utah.

Can you really claim to love animals and then sell them to certain pain, suffering and death TO RESEARCH LABS?
Find someone to take care of your animals there and educate your community, other than yourselves. You have FAILED, and now the rest of the country is watching !!!!!
I have not doubt that you CERTAINLY have enough money to write your payroll every week, yet you are careless and apathetic about the welfare of your “residents”.
Stop your pathetically cruel practice now. Animals are not for humans to experiment on. SHAME ON YOU !!!!!!!!!!

am utterly disgusted and appalled by this news. we all need to urge/encourage people in our sphere of influence to send emails of protest to NUVAS as well as Utah legislators.

It may be time to do more then just send e-mails. Why doesn’t someone pay both the shelter and the University a visit. Sometimes you have to get in peoples faces to get your point across.

Why don’t you clone your disgusting selves and use them for experiments? Animals are innocent creatures of nature and do not need to be used in such ways.
I do hope what you do comes back at you ten fold!

THE SALE OF PETS FOR EXPERIMENTATION FROM AN ANIMAL SHELTER OF ALL THINGS IS UNETHICAL, IMMORAL, INHUMANE, DECEITFUL AND UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE. STOP IT NOW OR DECLARE TO THE PUBLIC UPFRONT WHAT YOU DO TO ANIMALS.

Isn’t this illegal. I thought people could receive prison time for such crimes. What’s next orphaned children, the elderly. Its all the same. Animals are innocent. Its hard enough to give up an animal or call the pound to pick up a feral cat knowing it will be put down, however the only comforting thing is knowing it will be humanely done. Now to know the truth. What can we do to prevent this horrible cruel and inhumane actions of thease sick people. This is ran by the state isn’t it? Why is allowed?

It is so discusting to me to know what they do to animals, they either get tortured, sold to research like here, legally killed in shelters just for waiting for someone to take them home. It is such a hypocritical world, we say we love animals only when we want them that is not right. More should be done to protect animals from getting legally killed. Prisoners get a better life and are let out imagine, animals never leave they get a one way ticket to a needle to never wake up again.
