House OKs bill to outlaw animal torture videos

By a vote of 416-3, the U.S. House today passed legislation to outlaw video depictions of animal torture. Rep. Gary Peters, a Bloomfield Township Democrat, was one of the coauthors of the bill.
It now goes to the Senate for consideration.
The legislation was proposed following a Supreme Court decision that overturned an earlier law that prohibited such depictions, including so-called crush videos in which small animals are tortured. The court said the earlier law was too broad and could even be extended to cover such depictions as those in hunting videos or magazines.
Peters said the new law should stand up to constitutional scrutiny by the court.
Related, please sign, it can still be used as consideration for the senate:

Thank you Stacey! In a normal world there would be no need for a discussion, animal torture is wrong and must be punished: if they need to debate on this it means they have serious issues

I agree, dearest Lo, there was no legitimacy to overturning the initial ban in the first place, it was done based on speciesist human benefits, not animals, and the increase in crush vids thereafter accentuated the danger of considering it a human issue. It was never implemented for people, if was for animals, but true to the animal industry mantra, only humans are deserving of consideration and empathy. Now let’s hope the debate is over.

Goes to the Senate. Seeing one of these video’s should pass the bill right then. The problem the video’s are not shown to the Senators, gov’s, what you don’t see you don’t know. So to them it is just talk. They must see these horrible video’s. I never in my life until now knew this existed at there and it shows how many other people do not know. I worked saving animals for 30 years. So it is going to take more it is going to take constant demanding, showing, calling to make sure this is passed.

Here is where it can be followed, but it doesn’t appear as if it’s been updated since June, unless I am missing something:

I signed the petition but I do NOT agree with whomever labeled it “kitten and puppy”. It should clearly apply to ANY animal, and we don’t need our wildlife orphans being the next victims.
ALL ANIMALS suffer the SAME PAIN. We need to start recognizing that ignoring this is counter-productive to evolvement of our own humanity.
