HighestWelfare.Humane.Assured.GoodPractices.Vegetarian. Regenerative.Flexitarian.Lies...
What is the difference between No Welfare, High Welfare, and Highest Welfare when they all require animals to die? Only human comfort, NONE protect the actual animals. The most humane, ethical, and honest Webster-defined "welfare" is NOT exploiting animals - not using, not wearing, not eating, not killing - animals. The only meaningful position is vegan, everything else is just how humans euphemize animals' required suffering and violent deaths: no human exploits animals because they honestly believe that NOT exploiting animals is UNethical or INhumane.

The Betrayals
- Game Birds
- Issue: Keeping of game birds such as pheasants in cages.
- Number of animals affected: Hundreds of thousands.
Last government policy: In one of its last acts in power, on 15 March 2010, Labour introduced a new Code of Practice for “game bird” production which in effect would have banned the use of battery cages for breeding pheasants within months.
What the Coalition has done: Animal Welfare minister James Paice withdrew the code and replaced it with a new version which allowed “enriched” cages to remain. The decision followed lobbying from shooting organisations, such as the Countryside Alliance and the Game Farmers’ Association.
RSPCA comment: “The RSPCA is concerned that the Government has overturned expert recommendations against the use of cages to breed game birds in England. The Society is calling for proper scientific research to establish how to best meet the birds’ needs under Section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act. In the meantime, the aim is to persuade the industry to act in accordance with the scientific principles of welfare and avoid using cages.”
- Circus Animals
- Issue: Use of performing wild animals such as tigers and elephants.
- How many animals affected: Around 40. Four British circuses use wild animals: the Great British Circus, which has tigers, lions, camels and zebras; Peter Jolly’s Circus (camels, zebras, snakes and crocodiles); Circus Mondao (camels and zebras); and Bobby Roberts Circus (camels and elephant).
What was going to happen?: On 25 March 2010, Labour’s environment minister, Jim Fitzpatrick, said he was “minded” to ban performing wild animals after research showed that 94 per cent of the public supported a ban.
What the Coalition has done: The Coalition said it was considering whether to proceed and would announce its position “in the autumn”. James Paice told the Commons he was sympathetic to a ban but said his colleague Lord Henley was mulling over issues.
RSPCA comment: “The RSPCA believes the circus is no place for a wild animal. It does not believe that wild animals should be subjected to the confinement, constant transportation and abnormal social groups associated with circus life. The UK Government promised three years ago that wild animals in travelling circuses would be banned – yet lions, tigers, elephants and other animals still tour the UK. We want to see the urgent introduction of regulations under the Animal Welfare Act.”
- Slaughterhouse Cruelty
- Issue: Cruelty against pigs, sheep and cattle by abattoir workers.
- Number of animals affected: 29 million.
What was going to happen?: Prosecutions had been started against four operators at five abattoirs, and nine workers, following an undercover investigation by an animal welfare charity, Animal Aid. It found poor conditions at six of seven slaughterhouses it investigated between January 2009 and April 2010: footage showed animals being kicked, slapped, stamped, and picked up by fleeces and ears and thrown into stunning pens. Some sheep had their throats cut while not properly stunned.
What the Coalition has done: The Department for Food and Rural Affairs dropped the prosecutions, saying it had become aware of legal precedents where courts had refused to accept “unlawfully obtained video footage”. Instead, the Food Standards Agency has asked the 370 slaughterhouses in England and Wales to install CCTV cameras.
RSPCA comment: The RSPCA does not wish to comment on specific court cases.
- Badger Cull
- Issue: Spread of bovine TB from wild badgers to cattle.
- How many animals affected: 6,000 badgers could be killed in the first year.
What was going to happen: In July 2008, the then Environment Secretary, Hilary Benn, ruled out a cull, saying a cull would worsen rates of bovine TB outside of culling areas. Instead he committed 20m more into trials of a vaccination programme for badgers in six areas.
What the Coalition has done: Proposed that farmers in areas of heavy TB infestation cull badgers by cage-trapping and shooting them, or by “free shooting” as animals emerge from their setts. It has scaled back trial vaccinations to one area.
RSPCA comment: “On the basis of the current science, welfare concerns and practicality, any decision for a widespread cull of badgers would be totally unacceptable. Farmers or any non-statutory agency carrying out a cull… would make the welfare issues involved in killing badgers worse. It would be near impossible to police or monitor such a cull and could make enforcement of the Protection of Badgers Act very difficult.”
- Beak Trimming
- Issue: Mutilation of laying hens.
- Number of animals affected: 20 million.
What was going to happen?: Labour decided to end beak trimming, which is carried out to prevent laying hens pecking and cannibalising each other in cramped battery cages. A ban enacted eight years ago was due to come into force on 1 January 2011.
What the Coalition has done: After the egg industry said it was not prepared for the end of beak trimming, the Coalition will delay a complete ban by at least five years, until 2016. Instead, the Government banned trimming with hot blades and allowed another technology which still causes pain – infra-red.
RSPCA comment: “The RSPCA is extremely disappointed that no specific date has been set for a ban on beak trimming for laying hens. The mutilation of all livestock is undesirable.”

SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Prime Minster Cameron, Agriculture Minister Paice, and RSCPA members:
I am gravely concerned regarding the very disturbing action of delaying or denying critically important moves to help animals. Indeed, millions of hens will have their beaks mutilated; game birds will remain in cages; pigs, sheep and cows in abattoirs will lose crucial protection from abuse; badgers will be culled; and lions, tigers and other wild animals will continue to perform in the big top. I am therefore respectfully requesting that you implement measures to illegalize these practices: This blatant demonstration of brutality has substantiated a cruel and dangerous lesson: when you expose people to such violence towards animals, you are indeed maintaining the position that ours is a world of suffering and brutality, desensitizing humans to animal cruelty, which inevitably leads to crimes against humans.
Ours is not a challenge to be regarded as humans against humans but rather as a welcomed obligation, indeed privilege, to build and effect an international attitude of compassion, justice, and equality to our animal friends. We do not gain power or control by degrading animals but rather we desensitize ourselves to all cruelty and victims become mere numbers, statistics, or financial means. This maliciousness is insidious as to be almost unrecognizable until we become immune to all suffering. We must not continue to objectify animals by condoning violent acts perpetrated on them or accepting them as undeserving of empathy and respect lest we lose our capability of humaneness towards all living creatures.
It is impossible to contemplate supporting any country, via tourism or commerce, that excuses such blatant animal cruelty; the global community will not defend this malicious and unnecessary business. I therefore hope this letter finds you willing to scrutinize both your own involvement in the intentional exploitation of animals and your desire to therefore protect, rather than harm, them. Please make the ethical decision to enact immediate protections for these sentient group of beings or lobby the government to do so.
I know your time is limited and I thank you for your attention to this urgent appeal.

PETA recently went undercover at Caboodle Ranch, Inc., a self-proclaimed “cat rescue sanctuary” in Madison County, Florida, that claims to give cats “everything they will ever need to live a happy healthy life.” Based on PETA’s evidence, officials are seizing Caboodle’s animals and charging its founder and operator, Craig Grant, with cruelty!
PETA’s investigation found that the “ranch” was essentially a one-person “no-kill” operation that subjected nearly 500 cats to filth, crowding, and chronic neglect. Grant denied cats effective veterinary care for rampant upper-respiratory infections and other ailments, sometimes with fatal consequences. Grant also left cats like Lilly to deteriorate and suffer month after month.
Several cats—including some with seemingly treatable conditions—died without veterinary care during the course of PETA’s investigation.
Grant allowed cats sick with fatal feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and leukemia to roam freely and come into contact with cats not known to have either. In order to “clean” sick cats’ faces, Grant roughly rubbed cats’ eyes and noses with Clorox wipes; insects swarmed around ailing cats at Caboodle; and cats were forced to endure disgusting living areas covered with vomit, trash, and waste and infested with roaches and maggots.
A dangerous bill is currently making its way through Florida’s legislature. Animal shelters would be forced to hand over animals to self-proclaimed, unregulated animal “rescues” just like Caboodle if the misleading “Animal Rescue Act” (S.B. 818 and H.B. 597) becomes law. PETA is calling on the bill’s sponsors to withdraw the legislation. Please help us make sure that happens by contacting these legislators—Rep. Joseph Abruzzo and Sen. Mike Bennett—now.

Background
Years ago, the European Parliament decided to ban all cosmetic products and ingredients tested on animals within the European Union by March 2013. However, under pressure from companies like ICI PARIS XL and L’Oreal, the European Union is considering to postpone this date.
These cosmetic companies claim that they weren’t given enough time to develop non-animal testing techniques. An absolute disgrace, since they had years to switch to non-animal testing methods, but simply choose not to. If they get their way it could mean 10 more years during which thousands of rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats will be injected, gassed, or force-fed and killed worldwide for cosmetics sold in the EU.
Today, on Wednesday the 29th of Februari 2012 (CET), Dutch / Belgian anti-vivisection organisation ADC will protest infront of ICI PARIS XL stores in Belgium, Europe to ask them to respect the deadline set by the European Parliament and to immediately start replacing their cruel cosmetics with cosmetics that are not tested on animals.
In addition, ADC is organizing an online protest by asking people to send an email to ICI PARIS XL to make sure the cruelty-free message, supported by millions of European citizens, will be heard by ICI PARIS XL.
Help save thousands of animals from a life of suffering and send a protest letter today!

Protest Dole’s Unfair and Unsafe Labor Practices on Banana Plantations

Target: Dole Food Company
Goal: To protest Dole’s unsafe and unfair labor practices on its banana plantations
How much do you know about where your produce comes from? The majority of bananas are produced in Latin and South America, and Dole Food Company controls the majority of the market. But are you aware of the amount of suffering that goes into producing a bunch of bananas?
Dole is notorious for a string of human rights violations. The average worker at a Dole plant earns a wage which just barely keeps them at the poverty line in most countries. Many of these workers are exposed to dangerous pesticides as well. Workers in Nicaragua have been exposed to chemicals which were banned in the United States. Many of these workers are now sterile due to these chemicals. These workers were also cheated out of their two billion dollar compensation, after a case that appears to be littered with bribery and fraud. If these pesticides are so dangerous to the workers, why do we want to be eating these fruits ourselves or serving them to our children?
Dole has also been linked to cases where workers were intimidated and harassed by military organizations. Any type of union activity is also banned, and the education that children receive forbids any mention of unions. In some cases, union activists have been murdered. Is widespread violence really necessary just to produce a bunch of bananas?
The banana plantations have also employed child laborers, some as young as age eight. Like their adult counterparts, these children are exposed to dangerous pesticides and not compensated for their overtime.
Dole claims that they have worked to change some of the working conditions on the plantations. But evidence points to the contrary. In 2009, a filmmaker exposed what goes on behind the scenes at many banana plantations. However, Dole did everything they could to prevent this film from showing including suing the filmmaker for defamation. Eventually, Bananas! was allowed to be shown, but it is still known as “The movie that Dole doesn’t want you to see”.
Clearly, the Dole Food Company needs to be called out on its dangerous practices. Let Dole know that you don’t support child labor, dangerous pesticide use or unfair working conditions by contacting the head of the Board of Directors, David Murdock.

Lawrence: No chicken slaughter for art

Wikimedia

Chickens that were to be publicly slaughtered as part of an art project in Lawrence have been spared.
City officials told artist Amber Hansen the slaughter would violate animal cruelty ordinances.
Hansen originally planned to display coops of chickens at various locations around Lawrence. The chickens were to be publicly slaughtered and served as a meal. She said the intention was to draw attention to the process of slaughtering animals.
Assistant City Attorney Chad Sublet told Hansen a public slaughtering of chickens would violate city codes. And even keeping the chickens on private land would require her to meet other city codes on animal care.
Hansen said she will change the public art event rather than fight the city’s decision.

Missouri residents report that deer are being impaled on a wrought-iron fence at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery in Kansas City. Others apparently get their feet caught in the fence’s bars and thrash until they hurt themselves and die of their injuries. We’re told that authorities recently ended the suffering of one deer who was found impaled, alive and struggling, upon this fence. Alarmingly, the cemetery reportedly intends to install more wrought-iron fencing! PETA has asked cemetery officials to take corrective measures, but our calls and letters have gone unreturned.
Please urge Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery officials to retrofit this fence so that these tragedies come to an end. Simple and inexpensive remedies include removing or capping the iron spikes and adding a flat top in order to prevent deer from being impaled!

SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Superintendent Hunter and Location Manager Kinsinger,
I am disturbed to learn that deer are currently being impaled on the fence at the Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery in Kansas City. Deer jump the fence and are either impaled or are trapped, and death does not occur for long periods of time. As such, I am respectfully requesting that the Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetary correct this situation via simple and inexpensive remedies that include removing or capping the iron spikes and adding a flat top in order to prevent deer from being impaled.
Animals are sentient beings and have the capacity to love, experience violence against them, and die painfully. It is immoral to ignore their suffering, especially when positive alternatives are readily available. It is my understanding that you plan on extending the fence; this would pose a great opportunity to have a safe one constructed. Additionally, the sight of dead and dying deer in obvious states of agony does not provide for the peaceful resting place that people expect from a reputable funeral home and cemetery.
Please stop the torment that your fence causes and take precautions, such as those listed above, to save, rather than harm, the deer.
Thank you for taking the time to read this urgent message.

Please protest ag gag laws, one quick petition

Background | Source ALDF
Food safety risks, animal abuse, and illegal working conditions are rampant on factory farms, and the corporate agriculture lobby is attempting to pass so-called “ag gag” laws — laws which would make it illegal to photograph or videotape at agricultural facilities, or to possess or distribute such evidence.
Their goal is insidious: to prevent consumers from ever seeing the animal abuse, contaminated crops, illegal working conditions, and risky food safety practices — the sort that result in massive food safety recalls and all too frequently lead to outbreaks of food-borne illness — that are common practice behind factory farm gates.
Ag gag legislation:
- hides animal abuse
- threatens public health and safety
- threatens enforcement of environmental laws
- harms farm workers and whistleblowers
- obstructs law enforcement
- undermines freedom of speech and freedom of the press
Ag gag laws are of grave concern to everyone from journalists to whistleblowers to mothers concerned about the safety of their children’s food. See how the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s proposed Protect Your Food Act can stop the threat of ag gag laws from reaching your state at www.ProtectYourFood.org.
You can prevent the mega-corporations that control most of our food production from passing laws that make citizen investigations a crime. Tell your state legislators to support ALDF’s Protect Your Food Act and prevent factory farmers from hiding what goes on behind closed doors.
Thank you for speaking out for farmed animals and taking the lead in protecting your family and community from food-borne illnesses and corporate agriculture’s appetite for deception.

Those 900 animals from vivisection.
The first 150 have already arrived.
It came even 150 in last week, the rest will arrive by the next. And ‘an army, so to paraphrase the title of a film, which is fighting against another army: that of the animal. There are monkeys, mostly ‘macaques, and are intended for vivisection in the Monza in Correzzana. Appropriate Berizzi Paul speaks of the Republic:
And ‘one of the biggest loads ever vivisection of animals imported into Italy. A immaginarsele all together it’s almost hard: macaques and in fact, coming from China via Rome-Fiumicino, are transported from the capital block one hundred and fifty at a time, stowed inside the gabions that cargo planes from Air China end up here in this hall land lying in Brianza. Not even 3 thousand inhabitants, Correzzana is known, as well as to have given birth to the singer Andy Griggs, for Harlan Laboratories, a multinational vivisection (present in four continents).
Ie, breeding animals are then sold to laboratories for research. The company has been over for years under fire by animal rights organizations. Because it offers ‘products’ to pharmaceutical companies and university laboratories:
In Italy’s practice focuses on trial for third parties and, of course, breeding for vivisection: mice, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, primates and other large mammals. He stalled for the transfer of beagle dogs (bred by the same company Green Hill) and has specialized in “production” of animals genetically modified to better use in the trial. Examples? The species ‘programmed’ to develop cancer or immune function inoculation of polio virus and monkeypox.
The Harlan, U.S., has two facilities in Italy: Lombardy addition to this there is one in Friuli, in the province of Udine. The animals come from China, and we have all the permissions. But the protests did not stop:
“This is one of the most notorious centers of experimentation in Italy – Mocavero says Paul, president of” One hundred percent animal “that since yesterday held a garrison in front of the plant Correzzana -. Vivisection on primates in Italy is very restrictive, but regulations are regularly circumvented with permission veterinary complacent. We ask the competent authorities to make checks on the regularity of such a massive importation of primates. ”
There are about 600 Italian centers linked to the vivisection of animals:
Two million and 600 thousand specimens used between 2007 and 2009 (including 618mila used for drug research). A turnover of tens of billions, behind which hides a world of situations that go well beyond the limits of decency and civility. The raid, in the autumn of 2006, the militant Animal Liberation Front in the laboratory of Harlan Correzzana, brought to light a reality until then unknown: thousands of rodents in stacks of Plexiglas cages, dozens of corpses photographed in the laboratory refrigerators , some of which are impaled with toothpicks, but especially tens of macaques kept in squalid conditions, including blood and faeces, before ending up in the chain of experimentation. The same which will start the 900 monkeys out of China.
A second case Green Hill is coming?
Additional Background | Source Ministero della Salute
In reference to the issue of entry into Italy of primates for scientific experimentation, the inspection of the inspectors sent by the Minister of Health, Professor. Renato Balduzzi, found no irregularities with respect to current standards.
On 21 February they arrived, with Air China flights from China, 104 specimens of the species Macaca fascicularis and Macaca Mulatta, China and Mauritius. The import permit has been issued by the Ministry of Health January 31, 2012, and allows entry of 900 records in batches of up to 156 persons. Upon arrival the animals were subjected to the visits required by the legislation and have been found in good health without any signs of stress due to travel. On February 22 veterinarians in the Border Inspection Post Fiumicino (RM) has carried out further investigations, given the sensitivity of import.
This morning the police have been conducting inspections of Nas at the factories of companies Harlan Laboratories of San Pietro al Natisone (UD) and Bresso (MI), Where are you breeding and use of mice and rats, and did not seem to be discovering irregularities. A similar inspection was performed in the establishment of Correzzana (MB), a provider of non-human primates, in which the recommendations are complied with ministerial authorization linked to the introduction of new animals and the management of those present, as regards the conditions sanitation life, which comply with regulations.
Please note that the import request is relative to 900 primates in a year, but their actual input is purely theoretical: in 2011 the same company, while making a request for 900 primates, it has imported 312 copies. These animals used for scientific or experimental.

Sample Letter | Vivisector
To Whom It Concerns,
Of all the inherently cruel conditions humans inflict on animals, nothing is more destructive and immoral than vivisection, unparalleled in both its cruel intent and apathetic nature. To subject animals to unnatural medical conditions and practices for the purpose of theorizing potential human treatments is not only scientifically illegitimate but it is also fundamentally inhumane.
From a pragmatic standpoint, if we could adequately determine the effects of drugs using animals in general, then, as I see it, human trials would be completely unnecessary. Therefore, if we acknowledge that data from animal testing cannot be extrapolated to humans, as demonstrated by the need for human testing trials prior to a general administration of drugs, then why are animals used at all?
Furthermore, tens of thousands of animals are deliberately denied pain relief while in obvious states of such, the theory being that introducing pain relief would compromise testing results. How can one honestly submit that introducing diseases to animals, subjecting them to pain, suffering, and agony, denying them companionship and comfort, and imprisoning them for life as done from a position of caring? These claims and similar responses are nothing but disingenuous rhetoric meant to deceive unknowing people: if vivisectors honestly cared about the well-being of animals, they would adamantly oppose vivisection.
Animal experimentation is unnecessary, unjustified, and unprincipled, its only function to financially benefit those who exploit animals. Animals have rights to live free from pain and suffering regardless of your objections to acknowledge such, and as long as you profit off the torture of animals, complicit in their abuse and death, I will continue campaigning on their behalf.
I know your time is limited and I thank you for taking the time to read this urgent message.

To Whom It Concerns,
I am writing in support of the BUAV Cargo Cruelty campaign.
I was shocked to learn that your airline is involved in the transportation of monkeys to laboratories. It is unacceptable that these sensitive animals, ripped from their families and homes, are then subjected to the stress of being packed into small crates and shipped as cargo on your airline to end up in laboratories where they will suffer in experiments.
I urge you to join the increasing number of airlines that have made the decision to stop their involvement in this cruelty. Until you do, I will not be flying with your airline.
Thank you for taking the time to read this urgent appeal.

50,000 chickens found trapped inside egg farm

The Stansilaus County, Calfiornia Animal Control officer who spoke to FOX News called this the worst animal abuse case she’s ever seen. 50,000 hens found trapped in a huge warehouse with only about 2,000 birds in stable enough condition to be rescued. The other several thousand were too far gone and were “euthanized” in portable gas chambers that were brought in to the site of the farm.
Christine Morrisey with Harvest Home Animal Sanctuaries is part of a group of rescuers who called this event an outrage. The property was leased by A & L Poultry owned by Andy Kung Chung. Authorities think that they expect Chung to at least be liable for the clean up, but no criminal animal cruelty laws exist to prosecute him on even if there was the political will to do so. The dead and euthanized birds are being hauled off to the Stanislaus County landfill.

Breaking News: TAM Linhas Aéreas announces end to monkey shipments following BUAV campaign!

Source: BUAV
(Please note that British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection – BUAV – has become Cruelty Free International and previous BUAV-specific links may no longer load.)
We are delighted to announce that TAM Linhas Aéreas, Brazil’s and Latin America’s largest airline, has just informed the BUAV that it will no longer transport primates destined for research purposes.
Only recently, the BUAV revealed TAM Airline’s role in transporting marmosets from Brazil to a laboratory in the USA. As a direct result of the BUAV’s revelations and subsequent campaign calling on individuals and groups from around the world to contact the airline, on the 6th February, TAM Airlines announced to the BUAV that it was carrying out a review of its procedures.
Today, the airline has informed us of the outcome of that review. It has announced a new policy not to transport primates destined for research. It will be the latest in a long line of major international carriers to implement a policy on the back of widespread public concern about the trade. Examples of those airlines, that were once major carriers, to have ceased transporting primates, include British Airways, United Airlines, Northwest Airlines, South African Airways, Delta Airlines, Eva Air, American Airlines Caribbean Airlines, China Airlines and most recently, Hainan Airlines.
Michelle Thew, BUAV’s Chief Executive, said: “We welcome the action taken by TAM Linhas Aéreas to adopt a policy on this important issue. The shipment of monkeys for research is a subject that raises strong public concern. We call on remaining airlines to end their involvement in this cruel trade.”
Thank you to everyone who wrote letters in support of our campaign. It so important to show the strength of public feeling on this issue. We are grateful for all your support!

In Escobar’s pig farm in the city of Fuente Alamo de Murcia managers and staff of the farm hit with iron bars to the bristles on the head, kill animals that do not serve with great swords that pierce repeated times in his side until the animals die after several agonizing minutes, some pregnant sows, after beating them in the head come to open your abdomen and uterus with a knife while she is still conscious and taking out the intestines of piglets and then let it die bleeding, workers also beat to death piglets against the floor stamping them commonplace on other farms, and have other brutal and sadistic behavior with animals, as seen in the video Animal Equality has published:
In this video, one of the farm workers themselves, Mark Verduga, who has worked from 2009 until February 21, 2012, confirms that these practices are common.
Miguel Rodriguez Brown, an anesthesiologist at the Veterinary Hospital of the University Complutense of Madrid, also states on these facts:
“It’s the most horrible thing I’ve seen in my career about the treatment of animals. The suffering to which they are subjected is comparable to that we would suffer in that situation. The animals have suffered extreme pain and unmatched brutality. ”
The renowned veterinarian and expert on bioethics of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics in the UK Andrew Knight said about the images posted:
“The treatment to these pigs is the most brutal abuse of farm animals I’ve seen in my life. Workers are clearly enjoying some of their behaviors. Treatment to these pigs is shockingly cruel and is, in fact, sadistic. ”
This is another example of the brutality and violence perpetrated daily against animals on farms and slaughterhouses. Animal Equality has done exhaustive research on pig farms in Spain can be seen in http://www.GranjasDeCerdos.org where we can check the daily horror faced by animals.

HE Mr. Adolfo Falagán:
After seeing the images revealed by Animal Equality on the brutality and exploitation of animals on the Farm The Escobar de Murcia, where you can see:
Farm staff hitting with iron bars to the bristles on the head, attacking animals with large swords that pierce your sides repeatedly until the animals died several minutes later.
A striking workers bristles, waving swords have stuck in their bodies in order to aggravate the internal injuries, mocking their suffering before the camera and jumping on them to hit them with your elbow and kicking.
The managers and operators repeatedly harassing and beating on the head to the sow with an iron bar before proceeding to open your abdomen and uterus with a knife while she is still conscious and they urgan inside your body for several minutes bringing hands to piglets was going to give birth and extracting their intestines, liver and other internal organs as she suffers from terrible suffering. This animal is dying then abandoned their bodies stretched on the floor until they finally die after several minutes.
It also gives the terribly ironic fact that this farm was awarded in 2008 by the meat industry with Porc d’Or prize for piglets born alive.
Veterinary experts as Miguel Rodriguez Brown, an anesthesiologist at the Veterinary Hospital of the University Complutense of Madrid, said about these facts:
“It’s the most horrible thing I’ve seen in my career about the treatment of animals. The suffering to which they are subjected is comparable to that we would suffer in that situation. The animals have suffered extreme pain and unmatched brutality. ”
While the renowned veterinarian and expert on bioethics of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics in the UK Andrew Knight:
“The treatment to these pigs is the most brutal abuse of farm animals I’ve seen in my life. Workers are clearly enjoying some of their behaviors. Treatment to these pigs is shockingly cruel and is, in fact, sadistic. ”
For all these facts, this brutality suffered by animals brought to light, I request that urgent action accordingly, involving government necessary for the carrying out relevant research and apply for immediate closure of the farm and that those responsible for the same individuals receive appropriate penalties.

Two dozen young horses saved from slaughter for as little as $50 per horse: can you help?

By George Warren: GWarren@news10.net
A horse rescue organization paid as little as $50 each for 24 young horses it believes were headed for the slaughterhouse.
“It’s a felony to sell horses for slaughter in California, but it happens every day,” said Tawnee Preisner of the Horse Plus Humane Society.

Preisner said 10 of the horse were bought Saturday at a livestock auction in Turlock, and the other 14 were purchased Monday directly from the man who hauled all of them down from Oregon.
Preisner said the group identifies horses likely being sold for slaughter based on the price, which she said runs about 22 cents per pound.
The group has rescued more than 2,000 horses since its inception in 2003, but has never bought so many youngsters at once.
The sudden influx has strained the group’s resources, but Preisner said cost was the least of her concerns.
“They’re precious little lives. You can’t say no to them,” she said.
Preisner said the group is actively seeking homes for the young horses along with donations for feed and medicine.

1. Background | From PETA
In order to produce down clothing, pillows, and comforters, birds are often pinned down or lifted by their necks or a delicate wing and have their feathers painfully ripped out while they are alive and able to feel pain.
Many birds are plucked so hard that they are left with gaping wounds, which workers sew back together using a needle and thread, without any painkillers. Some birds are left paralyzed by pain and fear, and some even die as a result of this violent process.
Buying down can also support the notoriously cruel foie gras industry because feathers from birds killed for their liver or meat are often sold as down.
Help birds suffering in the down industry by pledging not to buy down products and looking for clothing and bedding made from cruelty-free materials.
2. Background | From Born Free
Born Free USA again is spearheading an important congressional initiative to protect nonhuman primates. Sponsored by U.S. Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), David Vitter (R-La.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and introduced July 6, 2011, the Captive Primate Safety Act (S. 1324) prohibits interstate commerce in monkeys, apes and other primates in the exotic “pet” trade. Please ask your two U.S. senators to co-sponsor the bill today.
The commercial trade in primates involves tremendous suffering and grave dangers to human health and safety. Nonhuman primates also pose disease risks, including transmission of Ebola, tuberculosis and herpes B.
Even though nearly half of the states already prohibit private possession of these wild animals as “pets,” primates are easily obtained over the Internet and through out-of-state dealers and auctions, making federal legislation necessary to support the efforts of state law enforcement.
Born Free USA knows the cruel effects of the trade firsthand. Many of our Primate Sanctuary residents were rescued from abusive situations in which they were forced into captivity as someone’s “pet.” As documented by Born Free USA’s Exotic Animal Incidents Database, numerous incidents involving nonhuman primate escapes and injuries to humans — including small children — have occurred nationwide in recent years. Tragically, in many of these cases the nonhuman primates were then killed.
Please contact your U.S. senators today and help us pass the Captive Primate Safety Act.

Source: Force Change
Target: Mali President Amadou Toumani Toure, Mali Prime Minister Cisse Mariam Kaidama Sidibe.
Goal: To end child slavery in Mali’s gold mines.
Children are recruited to work in Mali’s artisanal gold mines when they are as young as six years old. They are exposed to Mercury which is a very dangerous toxin produced in making gold that can cause neurological impairment. Although child labor is illegal in Mali, nothing is being done to eradicate this issue. It is estimated that 20,000-40,000 children work in Mali’s mines; they endure exposure to toxins, accidents in unstable pits and physical abuse.
Children interviewed complained of respiratory problems or recurring pain in their muscles and joints. Often these children work to help support their poor families, both their education and childhood is stolen from them. Even if they escape the abusive situation they are likely to endure long term problems from the toxins they are exposed to. Mali must take action by removing these children from the mines and ensuring that they are not working in such horrific conditions. We can also pressure Mali to forbid such working conditions for children and make sure the gold we buy does not come from these mines. Beneath the glamor of gold is an industry tainted by the sweat and blood of innocent children.

BACKGROUND
The Smallest Dolphin Captive tank in the WORLD houses 2 dolphins named “Sad & Lonely” by Ric O’Barry!
No sun! No fresh air! These dolphins were captured by the Taiji Fishermen and placed from the wild world of up to 100 miles of swimming a day to a rectangular box-like glass aquarium where they float waiting for food. Sad (Dolphin) floats underneath a small opening that food is dropped from with his/her nose to the corner while lonely (Dolphin) floats behind in the remaining area of maybe 20ft x 15ft and 6ft deep. Just horrible condition for such highly intelligent creatures of our beautiful ocean! Barely anyone goes into the hallway that their cage is located!
Two ways to help! Please sign petition and contact WAZA directly: the Taiji Whale Museum is a member of the Japan Association of Zoos and Aquariums, or JAZA. JAZA in turn is a member organization of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, or WAZA. WAZA maintains ethical standards for their associated zoos and aquariums all around the world. WAZA is based in Switzerland.
