Human race ‘will be extinct within 100 years’, claims leading scientist

As the scientist who helped eradicate smallpox he certainly know a thing or two about extinction.
And now Professor Frank Fenner, emeritus professor of microbiology at the Australian National University, has predicted that the human race will be extinct within the next 100 years.
He has claimed that the human race will be unable to survive a population explosion and ‘unbridled consumption.’
Fenner told The Australian newspaper that ‘homo sapiens will become extinct, perhaps within 100 years.’
‘A lot of other animals will, too,’ he added.
‘It’s an irreversible situation. I think it’s too late. I try not to express that because people are trying to do something, but they keep putting it off.’
Since humans entered an unofficial scientific period known as the Anthropocene – the time since industrialisation – we have had an effect on the planet that rivals any ice age or comet impact, he said.
Fenner, 95, has won awards for his work in helping eradicate the variola virus that causes smallpox and has written or co-written 22 books.
Professor Nicholas Boyle of Cambridge University said that a ‘Doomsday’ moment will take place in 2014 – and will determine whether the 21st century is full of violence and poverty or will be peaceful and prosperous.
He announced the eradication of the disease to the World Health Assembly in 1980 and it is still regarded as one of the World Health Organisation’s greatest achievements.
He was also heavily involved in helping to control Australia’s myxomatosis problem in rabbits.
Last year official UN figures estimated that the world’s population is currently 6.8 billion. It is predicted to exceed seven billion by the end of 2011.
Fenner blames the onset of climate change for the human race’s imminent demise.
He said: ‘We’ll undergo the same fate as the people on Easter Island.
‘Climate change is just at the very beginning. But we’re seeing remarkable changes in the weather already.’
‘The Aborigines showed that without science and the production of carbon dioxide and global warming, they could survive for 40,000 or 50,000 years.
‘But the world can’t. The human species is likely to go the same way as many of the species that we’ve seen disappear.’
Retired professor Stephen Boyden, a colleague of Professor Fenner, said that while there was deep pessimism among some ecologists, others had a more optimistic view.
‘Frank may well be right, but some of us still harbour the hope that there will come about an awareness of the situation and, as a result the revolutionary changes necessary to achieve ecological sustainability.’
Simon Ross, the vice-chairman of the Optimum Population Trust, said: ‘Mankind is facing real challenges including climate change, loss of bio-diversity and unprecedented growth in population.’
Professor Fenner’s chilling prediction echoes recent comments by Prince Charles who last week warned of ‘monumental problems’ if the world’s population continues to grow at such a rapid pace.
And it comes after Professor Nicholas Boyle of Cambridge University said that a ‘Doomsday’ moment will take place in 2014 – and will determine whether the 21st century is full of violence and poverty or will be peaceful and prosperous.
In the last 500 years there has been a cataclysmic ‘Great Event’ of international significance at the start of each century, he claimed.
In 2006 another esteemed academic, Professor James Lovelock, warned that the world’s population may sink as low as 500 million over the next century due to global warming.
He claimed that any attempts to tackle climate change will not be able to solve the problem, merely buy us time.

I remember sitting in a pub with 2 very close friends, putting the world to rights as we all do, about 7 years ago. I told them 50 years maximum then. I still stand by that.
In fact, i’m so sure everything is going to go upside down, that i got myself sterilised.

How unfortunate it is indeed that on macrolevel the worldleaders only think in building out short term policy, and think about getting re-elected themselves in the first place…That is were the energy is going and not to protecting the planet from polution and abuse…
I am a healthy 35 year old woman and love children, animals and nature. I also do not have children because of that future idea…I changed my job since I became aware of the state the world is in, so at least I am not participating any longer in flying in airplanes. I had an international career in the contemporary arts and I flew around the world every other weekend. Now I am more locally engaged.
I am selling my house because the Netherlands will be under water when the sea levels are rising, so I need to change my living environment into higher regions, but also it saves money and time that I would like to devote in other things, such as trying to set up projects that would help creating awareness amongst people.
The facts are on the table, and in the meanwhile I just try to enjoy my friendships and the children of other people. I would love to do more about making people aware of alternative ways of living, how they can do less harm to their environment and implement kindness to their offspring so that at least some empathy can be nurtured.
That is a very fullfilling idea and I am able to lead a ‘rich’ life with less means and consumption instead.
So on a microlevel I still believe we can make a huge difference with a small impact…

I couldn’t agree with Kristy and Michelle more. I think the extinction of man is the only way to stop his distrustion of the earth. It sickens me, but I just don’t think there are enough of us to make a difference. I never had children and the fact that the world has become such a lousy place is one reason who. I love this planet and all the animals and some of the people, but just as the words of the song, “I’d like to change the world, but I don’t know what to do.”

Yes I won’t be surprised if the human polulation crashes or worse, comes to a catastrophic end in the coming years. At the rate we are reproducing and consuming other animal life and natural resources there has to be a finite limit before the point of no return is reached. Humankind is on a headlong rush to oblivion and the winners will be non-human animals.

Interesting, the coincidence of the number 500,000,000. That’s the number the “elites” say they’re shooting for. Has anyone looked into the deliberate toxification of the food supply, the water, beverages, medications, etc.? Or noted the “pandemics” the government, the US especially and the WHO (a private corporation) were pushing as a “Level 6” emergency have been found to have the earmarks of genetically manipulated DNA? I’ve read similar comments about the viruses involved in AIDS as well. And several doctors who treat outside the mainstream have recently written that there have been over a thousand cures for cancer found – and suppressed, as well as saying that the vulnerability to different kinds of cancer appears to be caused by malnutrition and exposure to toxins – “chemical body burden.” Sounds like a deliberate effort to me, not an inevitability.

Theres alot we can do, and if 6.8 billion people work together, we can definitely do something to make us stay. Us being the most intelligent species, we must do everything in our power to make us stay, and we definitely have the power to do that as we have done other things. The solution is to be one with nature, all governments need to make rules to begin population decline, recycle everything, stop producing non bio degradable plastics and anything that would harm the environment, everyone has to start from him own home and reduce his carbon footprint, separate the trash into categories which must be dutifully picked up and recycled completely so that it goes back to the earth.

There is a very real effort being made to poison the poor, chronically ill, people on government social net paychecks and plain old ordinary workers. Toxic substances in plastics that leech into foods, in personal care products, in drinking water. Ractopamine and rBGH in beef, pork and turkeys, plus subclinical antibiotics in factory farm animals, more garbage in factory farm chickens… the list is almost endless it seems. And there’s PLENTY of room even for more people if we were to use the land correctly. No more “scorched earth” harvesting of natural resources, efficient and clean energy (the government and power companies are sitting on the best patents). Organic farming, which Codex Alimentarius is trying to eradicate along with hi-potency food supplements, could feed the world just fine without poisoning the land and toxifying the plants with species-jumping GMO genes, glycophosphate herbicides and terrifyingly toxic pesticides (the making of which produces more fluoride for water supplies). Personally, I feel that the majority of humans do not deserve to live on a beautiful and unique planet such as Earth as they are a walking destruction more like a cancerous disease. With humans gone the Earth will have a chance to regenerate and come alive once more and the animals will finally be left alone and be free of humans who use and abuse at every chance they get. The doctor may be right if humanity does not radically reduce its uncontrollable appetite for sex and the resulting offspring, although it may take a little longer than just 100 years, and a lot more painfully than he implies. Opposing birth control and abortion is absolute lunacy, in the face of the human plague upon this finite planet. I am reminded of an oblong sinkhole, some four feet deep and filled with rainwater and algae, that I observed as a child. Frogs fell in and they could not get out. With nothing else to do, they mated and mated and quickly overwhelmed their tiny world with their numbers. Overcrowded, all sorts of pathologies appeared; cannibalism, devouring of eggs and tadpoles, males mounting other males, females abandoning normal egg laying habits, listlessness and semi-starvation, pollution of their water with their waste and their corpses. I felt so sorry for them that I stuck a long board into the hole, angled so the frogs could climb out. But by then, they were so demoralized and corrupted than only one or two hopped a few feet up the escape, stopped, sat there, could not continue and either died of dehydration or fell back in. HUMANITY,LET THIS BE A LESSON!

I am an optimist who is not too optimistic right now. Time for studies is now over and it’s time to get on with the job. First off, the biggest obstacle to any success in keeping our species alive on this earth is to control population. Without this control, all else will eventually be lost. We also have to stop fooling ourselves that this green product or the green product is “good” for the earth. None of the stuff we make to make our lives more comfortable, more interesting or whatever is good for the earth. They all take natural resources.
If we want our species to survive, we need to make it perfectly clear to self-serving politicians, like we did in the 60s, that we will no longer tolerate the status quo and procrastination on the things that need to be done. We punish people who commit war crimes, who are hatemongers and the like, so why don’t we punish those who deny global warming. There’s too many people out there who are willing to grab onto the BS that is, people spout in public as an excuse for them to continue on their wasteful ways. People who do need to feel the social heat foisted upon them by their peers, and those who willfully spread this BS–I consider them a danger to national security and I’m a Canadian–should be prosecuted. Free speech is one thing, but when people in power speak against global warming and all the other ills of the earth brought about by man, they should be slapped behind bars. Nobody powerful could be that stupid, so they must be corrupt and held with contempt by our society.
When we all rise to tell our politicians to get off their lazy butts and work for their oversized paychecks and pensions to do what their constituents want with regards to leaving a smaller footprint on earth, and not what big corporations want, as we all know they have vested interests that they have bought and paid for for years. The good of society should always be put ahead of some greedy company wanting to get even more money than they already have. Like population, profits can’t grow exponentially forever.

What we need to do is get rid of the “elites,” the less-than 1% who own more than 90% of the Western World’s (and much of the Easts) wealth, and so control too many governments and all of the most destructive corporations. They and their corporations are what are destroying the VAST majority of the natural earth in pursuit of “infinitely increasing profits” in a finite system. Birth control and ALL available medical care for men and women, including abortion, is stopped not just in Red states in the U.S. but all over the world due to a false interpretation of the Bible. These “super Christians” need to be reigned in. The correct farming techniques and land use would handle the earth’s present population and more. You’re right in that this is not an infinite system, physical or economic, and that’s exactly how the corporations are treating it all. And those “elites” have realized that going on 7 billion people are just too many for them to control, so they’ve come up with the BS that all of this pollution is OUR fault and that they need to cull 90% of us. That would leave plenty, they feel, for servants and the technicians to keep them living in obscene luxury. Until people pull their heads out, quit screaming “conspiracy theory” every time the “elites’ get mentioned (invisibility is their greatest protection – the idea that they don’t exist), nothing is going to get done. They’re parasites that produce NOTHING; they just skim off the cream of profits all over the planet. And for them, WAR is the most profitable “industry” there is. They always finance both or all sides, as they did in both World Wars. Check out Prescott Bush and where his money came from, who backed him, Henry Ford, Rockefellers, Warburgs, and especially the Rothschilds.
People take care of each other and take care of the necessities given the chance, without interference from corporate-driven governments and power-driven organized religions.

I think Professor Fenner is right, although like many optimists, I like to think we can still save something of our precious world. We will undoubtedly suffer some of the worst catastrophes the human race has seen, even worse than those talked about in biblical times. We are due to see a massive rise in sea levels globally within 5 years. We are already seeing the beginning of massive civil unrest and people movement/displacement. Like rats, we are becoming increasingly violent towards each other and civilisation is breaking down in our cities. This is due to overcrowding and shortages. Wait until the shortages of food and water come into play and see just how vile the human species can become. I hate to be the soothsayer, claiming the end in nigh… but it is, as we know it.

I don’t know if he’s right, but I do know that unless the people of this earth start respecting the planet and the creatures on it, we are all doomed. God spare me the right-to-life extremists who kill anything that moves as long as it isn’t human; the environmentalists who use more oil, gas and electricity to make their point about consumption than most of use normally consume; and all the other hypocrites out there who descry the destruction of the earth while quietly going on about their lives destroying everything that gets in their way. Come on, people! Don’t just talk, DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE! Start with not using as much electricity, or not killing that spider just because it’s in your house. A small step, but at least it’s a positive step.

for the past 4.5 billion years this planet has reshaped its self constantly…The planet will not be destroyed by humans..we will just kill ourselves and most of the plant and animal life off as well(but remember mass climate changes have led to mass extinctions of the earths life on multiple occasions throughout history)… but once again the planet will reshape and adapt and create new life… So death for the human race is inevitable… we have just increased the speed…
We are responsible for damaging this earth and the life that relys upon it, but we also must realize that we cannot avoid a climate change, that is a part of the way this earth works, we should be greatful and respectful to the earth while we have this time on it… instead there are too many greedy people who are raping the earth and killing species off during this precious time in history..SHAME ON those who harm other living beings!

It is now 42 years that i am not feeding my self with dead murdered bodies and i am in perfect health.To stop eating meat and fish, by the way fish is also meet,for dietetical reasons won´t help much,people should stop to eat murdered brothers and sisters because of love and respect.
Try to visualise the earth from the ayes of an eagle, you will see that on our planet , millions animals are are daily murdered and their spilled blood is flowing to the center of the cities, all cities live on that blood. First off, let me put my two cents worth in and give my own predictions:
Good news–barring an asteroid/comet impact, massive volcanic eruption (supervolcano explosion) or the sun going nova, etc. the human race will NOT go extinct within the next hundred years.
Bad news–there WILL be a massive die-off of humans sometime in the not too distant future (25 to 100 years). The resulting population level will be in the range of 1 to 2 billion people remaining.
Secondly…
Reading through the comments here I note a good number of posters who apparently believe that animals and their welfare should take precedence over human life. There are others who seem to think that only massive government intervention can avert potential catastrophe. And then there are those who think that people/governments are so nearsighted that they are incapable/helpless to do anything to stop the onward rush to disaster.
I’m in the last group. However, I don’t believe the final outcome will be extinction.
If managed properly, this planet can easily sustain a human population of 2 to 3 billion people along with a diverse wildlife population. Unfortunately, while mankind may be too clever to allow itself to go extinct, we’re also too stupid (presently) to control our greed and impulses and avoid the consequences of our present course of action.

Personally i consider the life of an innocent living being to be more important than the life of a daily morderer, and i do not mean here people who eat meat because they really have nothing else to eat, people who live in a simple way of the nature,
when people respect animals it means that they have already respected the human animal first,it is uncorrect to think that some people give more importance to animal life then to human life, because it would be an inconsequents for those who respect all life.
Animals are not dying because the human animals have nothing to eat but they are dying because the human animals want to eat turtle´s eggs or baby canguroos or shark´s fins,or salmon´s eggs taken uit the mother womb,etc…
animals die because the human animal want to sit on chairs made of wood of trees where animals live,
animals die because their house and their food is taken away and their space is stolen from them

Personally, I feel that the coming end of the world is a beautiful thing.
You must think about it from a different perspective; we’re just another failed set of beings. All over the universe there must be developing organisms, that may one day grow to destroy themselves like we have.
It makes me wonder if any intelligent species in the universe has ever developed to co-exist with their planet, in a way that benefits both parties. Or maybe we can just hop from planet to planet destroying as we go? Sounds good to me!

In Australia, we have a government mentality of breed and populate, without any real thought to the consequences. Couples are paid $5,000 to produce a child and are now given paid maternity leave (both parents) and all sorts of other financial benefits in order to build up the population. We have water shortages, rising sea levels (not seen by politicians from Canberra) and a reduction in food production. Never the less, land is sequestered to mine coal and iron ore, forests are cleared to make paper and dairy farms are being swallowed up by monoculture plantations, to make even more paper. Tasmania, originally not part of Australia and unluckily, arriving here on the wave of tectonic movement, has some of the finest soils to grow food, the best water catchments and abundant rainfall. The ample sunlight, combined with a near European climate, makes vegetable growing easy and extremely productive. This is being lost by a culture of cut it down, dig it up or shoot it. I have a severe problem with linear thinking scientists making such statements to grab headlines, this is ridiculous. It also negates the strength of science to solve future challenges. On one hand they claim to be all-knowing that mankind is ending, then on the other hand claim to be impodent along with the rest of us that their is no solution. As far as I know there were climate changes on the Earth long before people appeared here. Well, Greenland was called so because some centuries ago it was much warmer than it is now. Maybe my mind was spoiled with such “apocalyptic” information, but now I’m 24 and I don’t take it seriously. Although I know that we do harm our planet, we really do.
About overpopulation. Maybe it would make sense to provide people in the poorest countries with contraceptives and tell them: please, don’t have more than two children? Maybe some of them really won’t. And let’s tell same things to the people in western countries. If everything is so bad, why there are anti-AIDS campaigns and not a single, pardon me, against births? Let’s talk about it in the media, let’s explain the danger, if there is one. Is it not humane, not ethical? But who cares for such ethics if we have just 100 years? We should do something to fight the problem. And if there is no such danger, then stop making people afraid. We already have enough reasons for fear.

Maybe we have outstayed our welcome on this planet ? We have abused and enslaved the animals species. We have destroyed more than we have created and what we’ve created has been mainly to serve ourselves, with very little or no interest, in the wellbeing of the planet and its inhabitants .. When I take an overall view on the status quo of the world .. I see us like a cancer spreading, destroying everything in our path .. I am sad however, because there are many good hearted, wise and wonderful people, in the world too. But to few to really make a difference, I fear ..

Aleksandra, your comments valid and should be noted. The earth actually heated up by 5 degrees Celsius 20,000 years ago. Scientists are arguing now that we are heading for a 6.8 degree rise. The big difference is that last time it took 10,000 years to reach that temperature and this time it will be less than 100 years (backdated to 1980). When the Earth reached 5 degrees back then, the sea level rose by 132 metres and wiped out many species of plant and animal. The reason most species survived is because they were given time to adapt, now we have no time. Governments are also agreeing that a 2-degree rise is likely to be with us within the nest few years and that emissions should be limited to the 450 parts per billion that will cause that rise. If temperatures rise to 2.5 degrees, we may reach a point where trees reverse photosynthesis and start to compete with us for oxygen. At the same time, these organisms will release CO2 rapidly increasing carbon and therefore temperature. We are at that point in human history where we have a slim window in which to act. If those of us who understand the problem do not scare the rest of humanity, the human race will become extinct, along with every other species. If we are wrong, the egg on our faces will drip into our eggnogs as we celebrate.

I am not even so sure if it would be a good thing to save the actual human race, We are a real cancer desease, the cancer is getting biger and not smaller.A good doctor would do avery thing to kill the cancer. It depends on which kind of human race are we talking about…the one who is killing life and which has build underground safety bunker or rakets to go to other planets to save themselven their devils´s staff and their families? Or the kind who loves and respects life in all her forms? The one who has nowhere to go to save his life? This one is the only real human race that should be saved but it will not,let´s be real… this one will be blown away no doubt.
Personally I prefer to be blown away then to have to be once more slaved by the fake human race who brought the cancer to the earth making averybody sick and dead.

I don’t think the Human race will become extinct, but it is clear that over-population is inevitable at this point. Which, of course, will only lead to the eventual collapse of civilization.
I think that, to be frank, the Human race shot itself in the foot the moment it tried to cheat the natural order – that is to stop living in harmony with its environment (as hunter-gatherers) and turn to agriculture and animal farming.
Once this step was taken, the Human race essentially became cancerous; refusing to play its part in the food chain and ecosystem. Rather than move around taking only what was needed, Humans would now stay in one area and consume all the natural resources, creating an ever-increasing population that would inevitably have to spread to another area.
This is essentially what cancer is. A cell that no longer behaves how it should in order to benefit itself and the system it exists in.
Of course, cancer eventually kills the host and therefore itself. So why do I think Humans will survive? Well the difference is that cancer cannot think and adapt. Humans can.
Humans may be intelligent, but intelligence without wisdom is a bit like being the first man to discover explosives – you may think you’re very clever, but you will, inevitably, blow yourself to pieces.

Look up the Depopulation Agenda from the U.S. National Policy paper from 1974 by Kissinger’s group. Look up the Bilderbergers, check out the G20 meeting. Look up the history of the Federal Reserve. There are people who have used the Central Banking system to take control of the major First World countries, people who are behind the megacorporations that are pushing the unhealthy lifestyles so hard, in America it’s hard to eat any other way, especially if you’re poor.
It all reads like a fantasy conspiracy theory from a novel, except there;s so much evidence – if you look a little for it – that the conclusion is unavoidable. Most people, from anyplace, are generally reasonably decent souls – if they’re not propagandized and afraid, angry, emotionally and cognitively compromised due to an insupportable chemical body burden, deliberately dumbed down and kept that way… People. populations I mean, don’t start or continue wars – leaders who are paid, in power and wealth, do, and it’s still the single most profitable industry there is. It’s also always good for power grabs and making major changes, like what happened after and since 9-11. Remember all the talk about how Hussein helped al Qaeda pull off 9-11? Then a few years later a reporter asked Bush what Iraq had to do with 9-11, and he said, “Nothing.” Why not? It had done its job; we’re in it now, and no amount of protest is getting us out of it.
WE. ARE. UNDER. ATTACK! All of the environmental alerts, the “save the animals” stuff going on, you name it, it’s in danger and someone wants to save it, or stop it, or something. You could do nothing all day but sign Internet petitions and still not get them all. Those are DISTRACTIONS! They keep us divided, because if we ever stopped for a moment, looked around and saw what’s been going on, we might get together, WORK together, and the whole New World Order plan would in trouble, sitting there in the glaring light like that.
Or ignore it, sit there and wait for the water to rise. Or for the Army to show up and “evacuate” you to a “quarantine” camp built by good old KBR. My partner writes up her diary every day. Just watching the news, one can see civil unrest growing in every part of the globe, mostly caused by philosophical differences but largely caused by food and water shortages and poor basic living standards. Every morning there is news of an ecological disaster somewhere; earth quakes, volcanic eruptions and bush fires, floods, landslides and super storms. Just in my own country, Australia, there are currently floods in most eastern states, drought in the lower south west, an area renown for rainfall and green pastures, while the north of WA is under water. Massive crop losses have occurred in all areas, as a direct result of changing weather patterns. When coupled with the devastatingly cold conditions in Europe, the forest fires in Israel and appalling conditions elsewhere, one can observe a trend. The planet is becoming angry. Notice the mining and oil disasters of late, again all over the globe. It is as though Mother Nature is saying, “enough is enough!”

It speaks of the culture of forest destruction and the corruption that drives it. Now the film is finished and the many fighting environmentalists, featured in that film, have won a sort of victory and put an end to native forest logging. However, the timber company concerned, Gunns Timber Ltd. Has closed all the sawmills. The protestors only wanted an end to wood chipping, for paper, not an end to timber production. The landscape has been systematically converted to plantation timber to feed a proposed giant pulp mill. The wildlife has been destroyed wholesale, in the process and yet the woodchipping of trees continues. It is as though man has a death wish and the Earth is going to accommodate it. A likely scenario for man is: Europe will suffer a mini ice age as all the cold fresh water, that is seeping into the Gulf Stream from Greenland, affects the weather patterns in Europe and North America. The Arctic Summer sea ice will cease to exist in 2011 and the Arctic Circle will warm by at least 4 degrees over the next few years. The West Antarctic Ice Sheet will – already fractured – will plummet into the ocean, causing a 3-metre rise in sea level, within 5 years. Combine that with the Greenland ice melt and you get 6-metres. Most capital cities and many other towns and cities are in coastal regions and will be submersed. Food crops will be in short supply due to either drought of flooding and salinity of low-lying regions. Fresh water will suffer the same fete, making drinking water an expensive commodity. Again, the death wish of man rears its head, as we see large corporations vying for water rights and food-growing land. That will mean that those who have will survive while those who have not will perish. Diseases that have been of no concern until now will likely become pandemics as the temperatures rise and illnesses previously unheard of will become an everyday occurrence. It is not a pretty picture and my estimate is that mankind is in the last generation of existence.

About the extinction of animals, it”s true, it has already started. Remember, a few months ago, millions of birds fell dead from the sky, in different parts of the world, and for absolutely no apparent reason. Not to also mention, millions of fish that were washed up on shore. and cows dropping dead by the thousands, also in all parts of the world. What does this all mean? Could this really be the beginning of extinction for certain animals, and we just happen to be the unfortunate ones who got to see it? And does that mean that man follows?

Gina K, remember, the human race is just one animal out of millions of species. We think we are superior and therefore infallible but we are not. Warmer (and colder) temteratures will affect us also, as will diseases that increase in virility with changing conditions. Birds falling from the skies are often as a result of toxins put there by man (lead, dioxins in gaseous form) and also can possibly be contributed to our communication (microwaves at their altitude etc.) The problem is we don’t know and it is not in the interests of corporations to find out; shareholders hate eco-problems.
Putting a price on carbon, for big polluters only and with no offset to the public/consumer, is a sure way to fix the problems quickly. Using the revenue collected as an investment fund for renewable energy projects, such as commercial hemp-bio-fuels and food/fibre and for solar and wave energy initiatives will very quickly reverse climate change. Biomass energy, (burning without oxygen in a stirling engine) will not only produce green energy but will also remove waste and produce soil carbon, in the form of bio-char. If the earth’s soils can improve carbon storage by 1% climate change will cease to exist and the plants will grow healthy and strong without chemicals. The answers are really so simple, there is nothing new or revolutionary here, just knowledge known by man for thousands of years. The only thing preventing the commonsense approach is big business, wanting to carry on in a “business as usual” way. Governments can legislate against these practices if they do not rely on gifts from business lobbyists. Wherever you live, attack your leaders, form movements and fight for what is yours… Life and our beautiful planet and remeber, we don’t own this planet, it owns us and we are just caretakers for the next generation of animals.
