Please verify if vegan, however, since LB does not distinguish vegan from non-vegan, and Cruelty-Free does not necessarily mean vegan  – it means it was not tested on animals but animal ingredients may still be included.

Under Column E (animals used in research / pain involved / no pain relief drugs administered) you’ll see animals who are “protected” by the Animal Welfare Act, but who must experience intentional pain nonetheless.

Only the animals “protected” by the (meager) Animal Welfare Act are reported; 95% of the animals used for research are NOT granted ANY “protection”, they are specifically excluded from the AWA and they are therefore NOT REQUIRED to be reported. I can only imagine the horrific suffering required of them.
