ABOUT

Our Compass is a vegan abolitionist community focused on nonhuman animals, the harm and suffering inflicted on them due to human exploitation and speciesism, and the necessity of veganism as the only meaningful and humane response to support animals and their liberation from humans.

You cannot claim to be supportive of “the humane treatment of” and “the welfare of” animals if you use them in any manner: consumption, testing, entertainment, skin/fur, vivisection, etc. The moment you try to define how you use animals as “humane” or “ethical” or “high welfare” is the moment you’re just euphemizing to provide yourself and other humans comfort causing animal suffering.

With respect to non-human animals, there is nothing more humane than NOT exploiting them.

Non-human animals do not benefit from human-caused exploitation and forced violent death.

Their bodies do not belong to you.

Our Compass is a non-violent group for vegans and future vegans. Although veganism is about ONLY nonhuman animals, we also embrace equality towards human animals and reject homophobia, transphobia, racism, patriarchy, and sexism.

Please let us know if you have suggestions, comments, or questions (no honest inquiry or effort will be dismissed) or if you would like an alert or essay published: stacey@our-compass.org or via our Contact Us form.

I’m going to link a couple previous articles here that establish the suffering animals are required to endure in each “phase” of “animal agriculture” as documented via recent exposes and, predominately, industry data from the USDA; I’m sharing them again here due to the fact that “anag” is responsible for the incalculable suffering of TRILLIONS of animals violently killed each year for “food”, either directly consumed, or during the “process”, such as those killed for AI or those who are killed as infants outside a slaughterhouse.

You don’t kill and consume animals because you honestly believe that NOT killing and NOT consuming animals is INhumane or UNethical, correct?

Why cause animal suffering that you can easily NOT?

One of These Things Is Not Like the Other

If your god demands unrelenting suffering and death, maybe you should invent another god NOT offended by nonviolence and least harm…

And on a personal note to the antivegans: your big lies, deception, manipulation, dirty games, fake degrees, gaslighting, profitable tricks, and indifference to the suffering you effortlessly inflict on othesr: I don’t believe in karma, I always think, “What did animals do to deserve the relentless suffering and terror and violence they’re required to experience?”

But I can pose that someday, someone you respect or care about, will ask you, “WHY?” And you won’t be able to adequately justify your actions and why you were never held accountable for the cruelties you forced othesr to endure for years and years. May you be emotionally crushed with remorse and regret.

    Hello

I would like to bring yet another issue to your tables, so to speak. I am one of the Directors for a new group, National Urban Wildlife Coalition (NUWC). Our mission is to unite all wildlife enthusiasts and animal groups to combat what we have been helpless observers of.

Our wildlife management system is broken and corrupt. It has evolved into a hunting business, with states competing against each other for federal tax payer funds ENTIRELY hinged on selling more hunting licenses, recruiting our kids to hunt, and arranging hunting seasons to ensure a bumper crop of game animals each year.

Meanwhile, our society still thinks “we need hunting to save animals from starving to death”. We believe the maligning of animals to be nothing more than “disease ridden nuisances” – so that we will look away from these animals being trapped and used as live bait to train dogs to shred them alive.

Our government agencies (with ranchers deep in their pockets) kill hundreds of thousands of animals all year long in the name of crop protection. Their “predator management program” is against the very core of natural wildlife management.

Until the Pittman-Robertson Wildnerness Act (the gun tax program) is repealed, this will never change. Our wildlife will continue to be exploited, non-sporting enthusiasts will be ignored as “radical anti’s”, and citizens who deserve some of the $300+ million gun tax will be ignored as well. Hunters are 4% of our population. This monopolized management must change.

    http://www.examiner.com/x-41663-Urban-Wildlife-Examiner~y2010m7d14-Wildlife-Conservation-has-an-agenda–our-taxes-ensure-unsound-management

In a few weeks NUWC site will go live at USwildlife.us There is now a Facebook page for the group.

We will pursue this goal with all we have, we intend to lobby and seek production of a documentary and/or TV commercials – we will not give up. But we need awareness. I hope you will help in any way you can.

    Thank you.

I would just like to say thank you for all the work you do here keeping he rest of us informed on important issues concerning the welfare of animals…..
Also adding this is done in an orthodox manner without all the threats, bashing and such….although I do join in those tactics and do not oppose them whatsoever, at the same time I feel this manner of fighting animal cruelty shown here, is as much needed as any other…
We all need to fight what ever way we can….
This creates a diversity of armies, therefore hitting “all” targets….
Thank you & Keep up the great work. !!!

Would it be possible to include our Petition currently on Change.org under your FUR/SKIN section.

I am the Founder of Protection 4 Animals where we rent land and buildings so we can take in all Animals that, where it appears we are there last chance. My wife and myself are non funded, receive no donations and look after the Animals ourselves.

With enough support gathered from Social Media such as Compass, Change.org, Our Blog, Twitter and FaceBook our hope that within a year we can register as a charity, raise funds, receive donations and work at this full time and help more Animals. Our Policy is once we take an Anima in, it has a home for life and lives out it’s natural life safe and loved.

I know we all wish we could do more, we need a universe! But maybe this story will help:

A young girl was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement.

She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, “Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!”

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied,

“Well, I made a difference to that one!”

The old man looked at the girl inquisitively and thought about what she had done and said. Inspired, he joined the little girl in throwing starfish back into the sea. Soon others joined, and all the starfish were saved. – adapted from the Star Thrower by Loren C. Eiseley

    OMG, you are so right.
The next time I feel depressed because nothing seems to be changing, I will remember this story.
I do know this, 3 short months ago when I began my Blog on Word Press, I felt so alone with a small, completely ignored Blog on Google.
I was convinced that no one cared about all of the terrible things that were being done to animals globally.
Now, with a small army of over 400 responsive, caring followers and closing in on 8,000 hits I feel a bit empowered.
They are out there, I just needed to find them~
    Thank you Stacy.

Netter Text.
    genau in seinem Lieblingsspiel Gleichgesinnte.
Kurz und Knapp: das Spielen ist das Beste überhaupt!
