The European Union is currently considering banning established and widely understood terms such as ‘burger’, ‘sausage’, and ‘steak’ for plant-based products. Additionally, the proposed EU ban would prohibit dairy-related terms, such as ‘yoghurt style’, ‘cheese alternative’, and ‘butter substitute’.
The main argument behind this proposal is to avoid consumer confusion. However, terms such as ‘veggie burger’ and ‘veggie sausage’ provide important information regarding the taste and uses that people can expect from a product. Consumers buy plant-based products precisely because they know these products offer similar taste experiences and functionalities to their animal-based counterparts.
The proposed restrictions would be in direct contradiction to the EU’s stated objectives in the European Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy of creating more sustainable and healthier food systems. The Farm to Fork Strategy explicitly states the need to empower consumers “to choose sustainable food” and to make “it easier to choose healthy and sustainable diets”.
Add your name and tell the European Parliament not to accept the proposed veggie burger ban.

Thank you so much, Marina! ❤
And I absolutely agree, it's asinine, you don't get to patent words because you're threatened by decency. Truth in advertising is the following, rejecting "humane" and "happy cows" based on the fact that it is false:

The US had a similar case last year, it was dismissed:

WordPress is really wonky, they updated the format to one that is more user friendly but requires I spend at least twice the amount of time to post, lol, it’s really confusing, at least to me, it doesn’t let me write in code, I have to find “blocks” that match what used to be code, it’s bizarre. So, in any case, you probably were unable and then it appeared or something. I’m sorry for the confusion! But I love them both. ❤

Gimme a break Stacey, are they going nuts? It really doesn’t matter how it is called (dammit), important is that there is the “vegan” logo on the package! I have being traying almost everything on the market here… each one is delicious, well, some one more than the other, but are nuances.
The cadaver’s eaters are just trying the impossible to defend their awfull habits, somehow they feel treathened and are confusing the minds of those willing to take the opportunity to change.
It the demand drops, it’s directly proportional that the offer must drop… and with it, the aminal farming with will at that point make the prices go up… I’m affraid it is far more complicated that we may think. Isn’t just about “how you call something”… but far more, what this may cause. :-)c

They like being powerful and deceptive and unchallenged, cruelty-free/vegan “versions” by contrast are openly lacking exploitation, they don’t want to “share” words that define complete opposites, what if ppl decide they like milk that doesn’t require suffering? They want no comparisons or reminders that animals suffer for *their* milk that is stolen from one species’ offspring and sold to a completely different, aging species, requiring calf deaths and reproductive exploitation of mothers.
Anything that pisses them off is a win, they are emotionally fragile, it would really suck being offended by foods that don’t require violence, that’s how they define themselves, their lives, their profits.
Thank you, beautiful Claudine, spot-on as always. ❤
