Ask Revlon to Stop Testing on Animals

Revlon has long been considered a cruelty-free company. However, in recent years Revlon has opened up cosmetic manufacturing in China, where animal testing is compulsory. When asked whether the company is testing on animals in China, Revlon representatives responded by saying, “Revlon is in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to animal testing.” This arbitrary statement has led consumers to believe that Revlon is hiding the fact that it now tests on animals.
PETA has recently withdrawn its endorsement of Revlon as a cruelty-free company, now claiming that the company does indeed test on animals. PETA also recently bought a large share of Revlon’s stock so that they could determine once and for all whether Revlon is abusing animals for the sake of beauty.
An independent manufacturer who sells ingredients to Revlon to make cosmetics also reported that Revlon recently ordered tests on 50 animals. These tests involve injecting rabbits or mice over and over again until the subjects die in order to determine at what concentration the product is lethal.
Animal testing is an outdated practice that is no longer necessary to ensure the safety of cosmetics. Alternative methods, such as using human cells, are readily available and equally effective. There is no reason in this modern world that animals need to be tortured for the sake of beauty products. Further, Revlon needs to come clean to its consumers about animal testing once and for all. Please ask Revlon to admit to animal testing and to stop abusing animals.

I am shocked to learn that REVLON discontinued its non-animal-testing protocol, and continues to support animal experimentation via its Chinese market. As such, as long as REVLON continues to unnecessarily capitalize on the mutilation, torture, and death of animals, I will not financially support you.
Please make both the ethical and financially-responsible decision to discontinue animal experimentation immediately: join an increasing body of corporations who are listening to a concerned and attentive consumer population who refuse to be complicit in animal experimentation.

The loopholes that corporations find to make more profit, often are cloaked in angelic clothing. Thank you for raising public awareness about this issue. I happens far too often. Animal testing is senseless, unneccesary and offers no benefit to the human speicies. Moreover in its sheer inhumanity it is unethical and immoral.
I have signed the petitions. I know that petition signing DOES make a difference. It only takes seconds to make a difference and to lend voice to innocent beings who cannot speak for themselves.

I left a comment on their FB page, and they responded with the following – “Hi Muriel, Revlon does not conduct animal testing and has not done so since 1989. We comprehensively test all of our products using the most technologically advanced methods available to ensure they are both innovative and safe to use. We believe that women should have the opportunity to express themselves through makeup, so we sell our products in many markets around the world and as such, are subject to local rules and regulations. Regulatory authorities in a few countries conduct independent testing in order to satisfy their own mandatory registration requirements. Revlon complies with all regulations in the countries in which our products are sold, and supports the advancement of non-animal testing alternatives and methodologies in our industry. and they responded with the following: ”
It’s definitely contradictory, and I will not trust them.

Right, it’s a very misleading and deceptive statement. Revlon itself doesn’t test on animals, but their products and ingredients ARE tested by the Chinese market. China requires all products be tested on animals, and ever since Revlon started selling their products in China, they now conduct testing via the Chinese. That’s why they write that they are “subject to local rules and regulations”. Which basically means that China tests their products on animals even though Revlon itself isn’t conducting the testing. They’re bastards with their misleading statements and even bigger bastards for going against their own, previous policy. Thanks for your help, Muriel.

Ive recieved similar email replies from Revlon months ago and its complete and total BS they DO test on animals and NOT just in places like Chins where revlon claims they “have” to test on animals its a huge LIE so do not believe them sinply let your dollars do the talking and BOYCOTT they’ll get the message all actions taken thanks Stacey i signed all petitions and shared them in several places and i sent comments & emails to revlon also llik the page and liked karens page as well thanks Stacey again

I wasn’t aware they tested in other markets, too. What absolute liars! Why doesn’t anyone care, and why are they forwarding such duplicitous statements? Certainly a boycott will be the only thing people can do, and that should make them listen! Thanks as always, Florence.

REVLON IS A COMPANY THAT I REMEMBER AS A CHILD. IT WS A WELL RESPECTED NAME IN MAKE UP. HOW IN GODS NAME HAS IT SANK SO LOW ? WHAT A DISGUSTING EVIL LOW GREEDY IMMORAL CRUEL THING TO DO.

Revlon south africa told me revlon has not tested on animals since 1989. They lied.

There’s a little loophole that companies exploit: sometimes they may not directly engage in animal testing but their suppliers DO. So they take advantage of consumers by saying they don’t do animal testing even though their suppliers do. That could be why they said that when, indeed, they are just as guilty as a company that directly engages in animal testing. Hope that made sense, thanks for your comment, Anouk.
