Bring Animal Killing “Artist”, Katinka Simonse, To Justice

A Dutch woman who calls herself a “performance artist”, Katinka Simonse (aka Tinkebell) believes that killing animals and displaying them in gruesome and controversial ways is performance art.
For one “performance”, Simonese actually broke her own cat’s neck and then skinned the animal, making it into handbags. She even provided a “how to” manual for those seeking to do the same with their own animals. The picture of her holding the cat as his/her skin is being taken from his/her body is revolting.
The pictures provided with this article are sickening. They show several of her exhibits at the galleries as well as her demonstrations on how she accomplished these exhibits. Simonse is very pleased with herself in the picture holding her dead cat as she pulls the skin off his/her body.
Also provided is a translated video, where this woman attempts to justify her art form, claiming it is not cruelty. There are numerous videos of her, which can be found at the link provided below that includes videos of visitors to various galleries with their reactions to her “art”.
The very thought of innocent animals having to die so this woman can earn money from their misery and murder is simply horrifying.
There are two petitions currently being circulated regarding this woman and her performance art.
The first petition is directed at Den Haag of the Ministry of Security and Justice in the Netherlands, asking that justice be served against the Torch Gallery and Simonse for these horrendous exhibits.
The second petition is directed at the Netherlands State Senate, and is asking that Simonse be brought to justice for her heinous acts involving these helpless animals in the name of “art”.
Please consider adding your voice to these two petitions. They are Change.org petitions, which can be signed by anyone. You can access them here and here, or at the links provided above.
The fact this kind of horror is allowed at all perpetuates the belief that it’s perfectly fine to murder an animal as long as you label it “art”.
This is similar to another situation where in 2007 Guillermo Vargas, another performance artist, chained a dog to a wall in a gallery and slowly starved him to death, again in the name of “art”.
Word had spread quickly through the animal advocacy community when it was learned that a gallery had asked the artist to “perform” this again. A petition was circulated regarding this and was recently closed. Hopefully the voices of advocates were heard and this atrocity was not allowed to be repeated with another dog slowly dying of starvation.
This type of horror must not be allowed to continue. As long as humans continue to pay to see this “performance art”, it will continue to go on. The suffering of an animal is never an art form, but is instead is the needless suffering and death for the amusement of humans.
Advocates need to speak up now to hopefully stop this horror from continuing and to keep any more animals from having to needlessly suffer and die for Simonse’s “art”.

I have to agree with you… if using animals in this way just to get a point across (the “NORM” that she is always going on about) is aloud to continue than who is going to stop her from moving on to humans, I have three dogs and two cats,,that at times drive me nuts,, I have never thought to myself to do these things to them,, and that’s for many reasons.1. because I love them and wish them long life and happiness, 2. it is wrong to hurt. to kill. and to make hand bags out of your pets, 3.it is not NORMAL to want to do these things, and like Karen I’m also an artist, and love most all art, however this is not art and it should be stopped, NO!!!!.. it HAS to be STOPPED

They call the killing of an animal art?!… Really! Has the human race gone completely insane! This post pushes me farther to the point of losing my faith in mablind. If they consider this art, not only are the artists psychotic and in beginning stages of becoming serial killers, but the people who go to see this crap are just as sick. The artists should bethought to trial, given a psych evil, and then sentenced to life in a mental ward, or put to death. Why let another psycho walk the street, there are enough already.

Shock Horror – millions of animals killed daily to feed society – what is the difference between a cat, a dog, a cow or a pig? There is no difference. Anyone who takes offence at this but not at the mass production of meat on a world wide scale is to be quite honest a hypocrit of the highest nature.
This woman raises one point that stands up beyond anything else. You feel emotion to this more due to it being a ‘household’ animal whereas your indignant to mass slaughter.

As for the mass rearing and slaughtering of animals for food, it is little short of murder and cannabalism. The fact that many people regard eating meat as normal is indicative of how sick we are as a species. News flash – not all animals are equal. There are animals that are bred for consumption and there are animals that we keep as COMPANIONS. Domestic pets should not be killed in cold blood. By that logic, killing an insect is the same as killing a cat, bird, dog etc.
This woman is allegedly killing pets to show people’s hypocrisy in that they eat slaughtered animals but they get upset when they see dead pets, but she in turn shows her OWN hypocrisy because she is UNNECESSARILY killing animals herself. How do you not get that?
She is not doing this for any animal rights cause; she is doing this for ATTENTION. And she is just a cruel bitch. I can’t believe people actually think that any person who truly cared about animal rights would do such a thing.

This is not art. She is using art as an excuse for her sadistic abuse and cruelty. I wonder how long a man could sadistically abuse his wife publicly while calling it art or how long a parent could abuse a child likewise. Yes, there is something really wrong with her psychologically to be able to do this to all of these innocent animals. To do something so pointless and kill for “art”? This women knows that what she is doing isn’t art-she gets a thrill out of having control of a life of another, and enjoys killing and torturing these poor animals. All this poor excuse for a person is, is a sick minded, perverted, ugly, evil individual that in NO way deserves to be alive, let alone be labled as an artist.
