BACKGROUND
From Foundation for Animal Aid on Crete
Venetia Soulakeli was taking care of a female dog in the back of the factory “Lixnia”, in Kokkinos Milos at the area of Acharnes in Athens, at Friday the 5th. Venetia, as always, went to feed the dog; the poor dog was ready to give birth to her puppies. The dog created her nest for the babies there in the rubbish under chipboard. A few hours later the dog was found burned alive, set on fire while giving birth to her pups. She must have felt horrendous pain from the delivery of the puppies and from the fire, too, because her bowel was out of her body. The pictures speak for themselves.
The so-called “human” who set fire to the rubbish must have seen the dog hidden beneath the chipboard giving birth to her puppies.
Please email the Press Officer of the Ministery of Citizens Protection Headqaurters in Athens to make sure that this is not going to be unpunished and hushed up. They have to do everthing to find the culprit

Dear Press Officer of the Ministery of Citizens Protection,
I have learned of an extremely disturbing and malicious case of animal cruelty in which a person deliberately caused the suffering and death of a female dog while the dog was giving birth. This alleged incident occurred on Friday, August 5, behind the factory “Lixnia” in Kokkinos Milos in the area of Acharnes in Athens. I am writing today to encourage you to pursue every route investigating this hideous crime in order to capture and effectively prosecute the perpetrator who set the dog on fire, causing unimaginable agony and fear.
When I try to imagine what possible motive animal abusers entertain for subjecting their animal victims to such malicious, heinous acts of brutality, I fail, but I am thankful for a lack of cognitive understanding and rationalization. To voluntarily engage in such malicious behaviour suggests sadistic tendencies, and this person’s actions, causing unmitigated pain and suffering, demonstrates an incontrovertible lack of morality regarding other living beings and a gross disrespect for the law. In fact, a person who shows such a remarkable lack of compassion towards non-human animals has the ability to show such indifference towards human animals. This link between animal and human abuse has been established, and if society excuses this person’s criminal behaviour, or agrees to a lesser punishment, we only harm ourselves by unjustly nullifying cruelty as acceptable behaviour.
Please respect the victims by investigating the crime and penalizing the guilty; doing so will demonstrate your commitment to justice, responsibility, and integrity, attributes unquestionably necessary in a law enforcement setting: rejecting cruelty by maintaining an unyielding position towards it would be a model for all community members and would serve to characterize this type of behaviour as both impermissible and punishable.

I have seen and have dealt with many disgusting acts of cruelty and abuse against animals since moving to Greece but never have I been so sickened so distressed and felt so helpless than now.
There are many crimes committed against defenseless animals which never result in an arrest or a prosecution. This must not be allowed to continue. This person MUST be found and prosecuted.

I have sent a letter, and included a plea that animal welfare laws are upheld. Such sadism and brutality should not go unpunished, whether it is against humans or animals – the effect is much the same as the perpetrator wants to inflict as much suffering as possible. This should not be tolerated in a civilised and caring society.

There is too much greed and fake people in this world. Too much thoughts about money and not enough compassion for all life. The cruelty that the human race is capable of really turns my stomach. I really believe an eye for an eye when it comes to these type of sickening crimes against innocent animals and children. I hope that those responsible for this “evil” cruelty will be brought to justice, if not by the courts, then by life itself which will be a living death sentence for them.

I have sent an edited email to the address supplied. However I would like to point out on this website that the person who was suppose to be looking after this poor innocent soul who suffered unimaginable pain at the hands of an evil being needs to also take responsibility for what happened.
Leaving a dog outside living amongst rubbish especially when she was due to give birth to her babies is far from looking after her, in fact in my book that is neglecting the dog and leaving her vulnerable. The dog should have been inside, protected and truly taken care and loved. Surely Venetia Soulakeli knows what her countrymen are like regarding animals and the cruelty that takes place in Greece, that alone should have been enough reason for her have taken of the dog. People who really love and care about dogs do not leave them outside. Dogs are social creatures who should be members of the family. We do not leave members of our family outside living in a rubbish tip.
Venetia Soulakeli must also accept responsibility for what has happened to this dog and be very ashamed of her self. I hope she reads this and never has anything do with a dog again.

I am retired in Argostoli and do my best to save and find homes for abandoned dogs of which i have successfully managed to find homes in Denmark, Germany and the UK for about 40 so far. These people that persecute Dogs, Cats, Donkeys etc are quite frankly insane. They are still Troglodytes, no education and are still savages and have not yet become civilized.The cruely is similar to the Mau Mau atrocities on animals during the 1950’s.I see them here on the Island and the only way to bring about change is to educate the children at schools and wait for the current old generation to die off so that the animal welfare taught will filter through. As for the help from the police and municipality, well enough said. I could write a book on that subject only.

Why can’t people have a pets and love them as their own children? Having a Dog or Cat is a joy. You love them and you treat them as one of the family, always. On the other hand there are the people who only love to do harm to them no matter where they come from. Even some shelters should be closed up before they can do more harm to the animals who depend on himans to care for and love them as a pet. It’s to bad that we can’t take the life of animals and treat them as a friend not $$$. Killing them is just the wrong thing to do. Love your Animals as they love you!!!
